Everything is sketchup :P

No, eurolink was a company who had real ships, soo we had to make a new company... So we will use new colors :)

Hi Chaps.

As this is about a VS design, it should be in Small Talk, not in Vessel Design Group (that's for Ship Simulator vessels only). I'll move across.
Title: Re: New model...
Post by: J3nsen on September 09, 2008, 22:06:09
Off, sorry, i think it will do better in Development corner... That is all the other models i made is + other user post they models, if they not can be in SS..  :-\
Title: Re: New model...
Post by: TerryRussell on September 09, 2008, 22:11:11
That group is supposed to be for approved vessels for Ship Simulator only. We'll be making sure people abide by the rules a bit more in future. But I left a link there for you, so you no whave two threads to catch people's eyes!

Buit I don't understand. If your vessel is for VS, why don't you post it there? Won't they have more facilities, support, information and users there than here?

Title: Re: New model...

...AND you get better critics here than over there ;D

(Pardon me but some of us are sick and tired of all the *** that is going on and on and on at the official VS forum :P)

Hmmm, where's the logic in modeling own ships???  Maybe your model is very good (no doubt), but when I'm looking on this picture it's crashing everything...
This is not a good configuration of rudder & propellers. The props are way away from each other & from the rudder, so the rudder won't play any role in the ships steering. It'll be logical if the props will be close to the rudder, or each prop will have its own rudder which is more suitable for modern ferries.

I'm sorry if you found something bad in my reply. That was just my opinion.  Keep up the good work  :)

Moving them wouldn't be necessary. It would take longer to move them, But Re-Scaling it would be a hole lot easier. If J3nsen Made it (The Rudder) Larger. That would also have a great influence on the steering.

But I don't the name of this one.

For me the textures don't come off fot that type of vessel.

Most of the times I have seen these types of ship, they have a light gray (but very dirty!) colour scheme if you like :)

No, Grande Europa have a much more lighter yellow color... And the paint work is diffrend, but the ship itself looks preety much like the orginal ship.

The beams in the railings is a little bit thick and maybe you can make some corners more round (a tip!) ;)
It depends on how what fineness of the shapes you want to make (if it's going to be rough or very fine).

You must all just throw in tips and hints to work, if it is negative or not, is not dangerous. Only the vessels are the most realistic and detailed.

Thanks again, really appreciate your attention to this work.

Yeah the cranes probably have some hydraulic cables and big screws just like the crane I made previously.
So maybe you cud add some cables to the hydraulic cylinders? ;)

I like the small screw details added at the base of your crane

Post by: JHB on May 12, 2009, 16:49:26
Well if it ends in a game it not that polish/reflective if you don't have "has_reflections 1" trough the boat. CFG file. If you are going to work with textures I would turn of the reflection effect and work with textures to get some kind of "good result". ;D

But it depends on how you want it and of course it's a nice idea to do some texture test trough the software you are using to learn and experiencing texturing of 3D models :)

Maybe Mad Fred can help you since he got some nice textured models? ;)

Nice crane. Is it the main one?

Why shame? Fred made his ferries & trawlers models for SS also in SU. There should be quality & accuracy of modeling on first place than the program in which the model was made.
Even though the model looks very good, it's hard to add a ship from SU. There are many other troubles, because of the way SU is modelling, it's just not made for games.

I have received many mail recently and they are there as much as:

- Plizz send your ship to vstep and get it into the SS + + + +
- Send me the ship in SketchUp format
- Put it in VS so I can try it
+ + +
Also get lots of mail about how good it looks and I am grateful for! Thank you for your support.
But back to the matter. I do not follow rules for anger SS model, so it will take twice as long + animation in SketchUp is hard. I will not send my projects in the SKP. format to anyone, I have posted some sample here before, and where I have never received anything spesical thanks or something. And I have no idea how I can put the ships in the VS, whether the ship is too large than the normal scale, or so it sinks before I get started engine. So if anyone out there have a good computer and know how we should add the ships into VS will i send the whole project to that person and hope that it will not be misused, credit and name will come on install file to the game.

Otherwise, I have been busy in the past with a new project, so this has stopped some, but come back to it soon as possible!

 ;)

I never get any answer from Color line or Orskov Yard. So its hard to finish anything on Bohus. So i started a own design, so i take up the name Santa Isadorà again. Members mabye remember that project. When my machine crashed. So this will not be a Ro-pax ship but a passenger ferry. So i want some feedback for this design. Thx! :)

The hull is more easy made this time, cause my more worked hulls have hige poly.

Yeah, this is not a real ferry, but i saw Norwegian Line was not a real company, so i use it instead! :)
Everyone have problems to get any blueprints or ships draw from Color line, not a simply mail they say they don't want to share it. So i have given up that company! :)

J3nsen, you should send in one of the Color Line ships (or any other of your models will do the trick too :) ) you have made to VSTEP!  :2thumbs:
After I got a newsletter about that everyone can send in their models and might get it as a ship in-game from the download pack, I immedatly thought of your models! :)
There is a big money price aswell :) (shure you have read it though ;) )

(Sorry for ripping off inn an old topic BTW..)

They should have this route on ship sim. I think it would be a fun one to do especially with this beautiful model. Are there any plans in the future for making the Bohus?

Love your work so far
Michael

I want Helsingborg - Helsingor route, but Stromstad - Sandefjord would be nice to! I started on M/S Bohus, but the deck plans are not the best way to follow! I got better plans to Viking.

Thx for feedback!

Both sisters (built as "Peder Paars" and "Niels Klim") are proven on several routes in Europe, under different flags and with changing liveries.

The good old "Bohus" will be history at the end of this saison, Color Line is looking for larger and newer tonnage. And of course the HH-connection would be nice! But a few decades before, when there was a stunning traffic with more than 10 ferries sailing the 20-min distance! :2thumbs:

I know this ship as the Stena Invicta which sailed between Calasi and Dover. In December 1996 I sailed with her from Calais to Dover. The sea was rather choppy and she listed sometimes. I think that this ship is not very stable.

michael_taal: I don't think am going to release it public yet, maybe later!

Bottman: I know, to bad. I like the that small ship, taking some trips with both ships in summertime!

MokMok: True! No, she's not really stable, but like Bottman told, is for short trips and not places with huge waves. But you can feel the 2 meters wave, and that waves are small than the channel between Calais and Dover have sometimes!

Well, she still is a LEGO-type ferry and the missing funnel top makes her line a little bit smoother, I think. Maybe we can find together with her Trasmed-livery?

And what happened to the lower passenger deck?
(or is it just the picture)?

it was cut out to fit a full hight car deck
The Invicta had a half height upper car deck, and so stena have cut it out on the Nautica and added a full height one instead

If she is not very stable, why was the Stena Invicta put onto the Calais-Dover route. Can she easily capsize in a choppy sea, is her GM and metacentric height so bad?

The Schichau-Seebeckswerft shipyard in Bremerhaven (Germany) rebuilded it for service in the English Channel. So it was stabel enough. After Color line bough it, they removed those parts and rebuilt it at Drammen (Norway).

Update: Made new windows, im quiet happy with the final job on those.
