Thx ;)
Can you PM me about making hulls? I have done it before, but i want different techniques! ;D

That's actually quite good. ;)
Is it testured or done with the sketch up funky thing?
-
nice ship! will you use the same colors for this ship as that you have used for the eurolink ship isadora?

Everything is sketchup :P
nice ship! will you use the same colors for this ship as that you have used for the eurolink ship isadora?
maritiem
No, eurolink was a company who had real ships, soo we had to make a new company... So we will use new colors :)
-
Verry nice model!
How do you make such nice textures?
I am strugling to make some for my latest gmax project.
-
Very Nice Model Jensen.
Your Always amazing with your Design.
i think when your a man. are getting a job when you design ships. and then it will maked. :)
-
Hi Chaps.
As this is about a VS design, it should be in Small Talk, not in Vessel Design Group (that's for Ship Simulator vessels only). I'll move across.
-
Off, sorry, i think it will do better in Development corner... That is all the other models i made is + other user post they models, if they not can be in SS.. :-\
-
That group is supposed to be for approved vessels for Ship Simulator only. We'll be making sure people abide by the rules a bit more in future. But I left a link there for you, so you no whave two threads to catch people's eyes!
Buit I don't understand. If your vessel is for VS, why don't you post it there? Won't they have more facilities, support, information and users there than here?
-
Cause i have been on this forum since the first game came out, and i get more respons here then i get on other forums...
-
...AND you get better critics here than over there ;D
(Pardon me but some of us are sick and tired of all the *** that is going on and on and on at the official VS forum :P)
-
Good to see u again JHB =) You have correct, VS forum **** :P

Hmmm, where's the logic in modeling own ships??? Maybe your model is very good (no doubt), but when I'm looking on this picture it's crashing everything...
This is not a good configuration of rudder & propellers. The props are way away from each other & from the rudder, so the rudder won't play any role in the ships steering. It'll be logical if the props will be close to the rudder, or each prop will have its own rudder which is more suitable for modern ferries.
I'm sorry if you found something bad in my reply. That was just my opinion. Keep up the good work :)
-
its up to mike J3nsen how he wants to make the boat, theres really no right and wrong way when it comes to making a boat.
-
hehe, i agree with him, it looks not soo realistik on my end... But i gona edit that soon!! =)

Moving them wouldn't be necessary. It would take longer to move them, But Re-Scaling it would be a hole lot easier. If J3nsen Made it (The Rudder) Larger. That would also have a great influence on the steering.

Thx for comments! I will try to use more time to make it more realistic, so please be patient. First, I focus on to finish everything before I put on the texture. I will also start to use many tutorials to get the textures made more realitiske than those in the SketchUp program from before!
I hope that the next update is just around the corner! ;)

It looks superb!
For me the textures don't come off fot that type of vessel.
Most of the times I have seen these types of ship, they have a light gray (but very dirty!) colour scheme if you like :)

Cannot think of anything negative, mate... looks brilliant!!

Thx everyone! :)
Looks nice J3nsen ;D Are these Grimaldi line colours?
No, Grande Europa have a much more lighter yellow color... And the paint work is diffrend, but the ship itself looks preety much like the orginal ship.

-
Hmm, i can add two more and scale they more bigger... mabye!
-
Sorry that I have not given any updates, but I really have not much time for hobbies when I go school. So it may take some time between updates now that I have to take to take it more seriously on the end of the school year! Here are some photos, have added a number of small detailes and textures. Also, I changed the pipe on the Adventure! :)

Really amazing work Michael, one thing you could use though is some more detail on the ship's bow in the last picture, such as bollards, etc... :)
-
Not bad, J3nsen. But do you think that the props are too small, or it's just because of shot's angle?
Firestar, do you always quoting the post with everything that it has, even if the post is right above yours?
Yup. I like people to know I am talking to them. I try to prevent confusion among forum members. ;)
-
VERY nice J3nsen, i like the Carcarrier!
The ferrie is also very nice
-
Why don't you do any smaller ships, All yours are are so huge and bulky. ;)
-
It would be very interesting to see Michael make a powerboat.
-
Smaller, i have made a Barghe.... The crane its not mine, but everything else is done by me...

wow! wheres the other half! ;D
-
I always start with half a boat, so I can make all the detailes and the fence on this, the final copy and paste so that I get two like half the ships that I smash together into one. So I save a lot of work! :)
-
Beautiful! So... sexy 8)
-
Thx JHB! Nice too see you still alive on this forum ;D
Almost finish with fence...
-
Ahhh, that's lovely :)
-
Finish with Fence and Stairs, really booring job, soo best to finish that first! :)
-
I asked Aker Shipyard, but they wont give out blueprints or info about the ship... So it will much as possible copy from the real ship. Im make this ship after 3D prints...
-
Thx! :)
The stairs its wrong on every ships, but i think i mix togheter two ships, and give it a name later... I think we gona get the same feling when we hopefuly can sail this one... if i finding out how i can put it into game... Then i dont have to ask about copyrights! Im too smart ::)
-
The beams in the railings is a little bit thick and maybe you can make some corners more round (a tip!) ;)
It depends on how what fineness of the shapes you want to make (if it's going to be rough or very fine).

All together it looks very nice. I know about that ship myself and you are doing wonderful work when it comes to all shapes and structures. The plan you are using is a excellent reference to make the main structures before you go into details, so keep up the good work! I will really subscribe to this topic
-
Thx JHB, i will try to re-work on fence corner and make they thiner! :)
-
Nice work!
maritiem
-
Great job, J3nsen, very impressive indeed!
-
Thanks maritiem and Mad_Fred.
You must all just throw in tips and hints to work, if it is negative or not, is not dangerous. Only the vessels are the most realistic and detailed.
Thanks again, really appreciate your attention to this work.

Smashing work, your extremely good at modelling!
And thats an understatement!
-
Okay, not soo much new details... But i gona make lifeboats, crane and finish roof and helli ramp, then textures, smash it together, finish outside detail, make one or two big cranes and brighe! :)

As always, amazing.
-
Now, it took me around 30 sek to copy and past it on right posision! ;)
-
Naah, i run 2x Geforce 9800GT SLI and 6GB ram + Intel Q6600. Soo it works pretty well.
-
With Blender, I don't have to copy and paste it over. Blender has an option called "Mirror" where it will mirror something over.
-
In sketchup do i have to copy and past it, then flip it... But it works nice that too! ;)
-
I just started on it, have to be smaller.... More like this one http://www.geoconsult.no/publish_files/Skandi_Acergy.jpg
Its not finish at all.... Just basic! :)
-
::)
-
Small update, and bed time... ;)

Life boat... Textures are not soo good, but it takes less of your system in game!
And it look like this in Sketchup DIAMANT
(http://i43.tinypic.com/254zpqv.jpg)

Looking pretty complicated there, I think.
BDW, how do you know the width of each thing while you have only the profile view image & some hull dimensions?
Its writed on norwegian... :P
Thx thaino! ;D
-
I know, but i mix up some ship into one with almoste same design... I also was on Skandi Acergy when it was in my city for some weeks ago, its almost 3,5m from floor to roof in brigde, i waiting for information to design the cranes... I has send a mail to Aker, but no respons yet!
Here is a update! :)

Yeah the cranes probably have some hydraulic cables and big screws just like the crane I made previously.
So maybe you cud add some cables to the hydraulic cylinders? ;)
I like the small screw details added at the base of your crane
-
I made hydraliks more easy... But it looks better then befor anyway!

Okay, trying out some texture tests.... The windows geting lagre, and its under 1px in photoshop, so i have to remake it... ::) Soo far it looks like:
-
Well if it ends in a game it not that polish/reflective if you don't have "has_reflections 1" trough the boat. CFG file. If you are going to work with textures I would turn of the reflection effect and work with textures to get some kind of "good result". ;D
But it depends on how you want it and of course it's a nice idea to do some texture test trough the software you are using to learn and experiencing texturing of 3D models :)
Maybe Mad Fred can help you since he got some nice textured models? ;)
-
Workin littel on Brigde, texture work takes alot more time than modeling....

Hope this look good soo far...
-
It looks great! ;D
-
It's a shame this is made in sketchup! this would look great in SS!
-
Sketchup can't be put into a SS format without Sketchup Pro.
Is this Pro?
-
Yes, this is the main crane! :)
And yes, i working with Sketchup Pro 7 ;)
-
Nice crane. Is it the main one?
Why shame? Fred made his ferries & trawlers models for SS also in SU. There should be quality & accuracy of modeling on first place than the program in which the model was made.
Even though the model looks very good, it's hard to add a ship from SU. There are many other troubles, because of the way SU is modelling, it's just not made for games.
-
Yes, this is the main crane! :)
And yes, i working with Sketchup Pro 7 ;)
Oh, sweet!
Hope to see this in a future SS game, then!
-
Hehe, we all can dream! ::)
-
Titanic went to offshore business?
That... really didn't make any sense to me :-\
-
Last week and early this week, I've been very busy with exams. So now is the only oral exam again, so is the school years completed. So therefore, there has not been any updates, but have done some today! :)

-
Made the texture in photoshop! ;)

Wow, that is really good! Can you post a texture here sometime?

I will allways help if im not busy! ;)
-
Looking Brilliant, J3nsen!
Jack.
-
Brilliant work, brilliant model... !!!
-
Ulstein ftw, nothing more to say
-
I have received many mail recently and they are there as much as:
- Plizz send your ship to vstep and get it into the SS + + + +
- Send me the ship in SketchUp format
- Put it in VS so I can try it
+ + +
Also get lots of mail about how good it looks and I am grateful for! Thank you for your support.
But back to the matter. I do not follow rules for anger SS model, so it will take twice as long + animation in SketchUp is hard. I will not send my projects in the SKP. format to anyone, I have posted some sample here before, and where I have never received anything spesical thanks or something. And I have no idea how I can put the ships in the VS, whether the ship is too large than the normal scale, or so it sinks before I get started engine. So if anyone out there have a good computer and know how we should add the ships into VS will i send the whole project to that person and hope that it will not be misused, credit and name will come on install file to the game.
Otherwise, I have been busy in the past with a new project, so this has stopped some, but come back to it soon as possible!
;)

Jobs slightly on side project. Need some drawings or BluePrints, has some stuff on this page is left!? Had been nice if you had it! It is hard to make without, and get 100%. The other projects are not dead, just needed something new and this boat is not so big that I need to say they other dead. This is after 10 hours of work.

Nice, as always! Can we see a shot of the close up bow? ;D
-
thats cool :o ;D :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Sweeet...
It would fit SS10 perfect :captain:
-
Yes firestar ;)
Not 100% but i have asked Orskov Yard for blueprints... no answer yet...
-
Delftship on offshore, cause i had blueprints, it makes it 90% easyer. Bohus are just sketchup after deckplans... I hope i get some blueprints from Orskov Yard, soo the hull will be 100%! ;)
-
very nice work on both hull J3nsen, you did an amazing job on the offshore vessel. Looking forward to some updates on the Color line ship.
-
I never get any answer from Color line or Orskov Yard. So its hard to finish anything on Bohus. So i started a own design, so i take up the name Santa Isadorà again. Members mabye remember that project. When my machine crashed. So this will not be a Ro-pax ship but a passenger ferry. So i want some feedback for this design. Thx! :)
The hull is more easy made this time, cause my more worked hulls have hige poly.

Briliant stuff as always, mate!!! :2thumbs:

Hoy,
Yes, nice work,we know you already for a while now.
You're work is always nicely detailed to.
I hope to see some of the projects into the game in the future.
Yes, i also know that Yards or owners,do not reply to get something from them(even a single mail back).

Thanks that helped a lot!

Nice ferry. Well done!
-
Nice ferries, Michael!
It's nice to see some norweginas ferries :)
You got any other ideas to do some other Color Line ferries?
Had been cool with SuperSpeed and Color Magic/Fantasy ;)

Little more texture work and it getting closer to finish line. And then i will add Mast, lights, small details, fence and bridge.

Yeah, this is not a real ferry, but i saw Norwegian Line was not a real company, so i use it instead! :)
Everyone have problems to get any blueprints or ships draw from Color line, not a simply mail they say they don't want to share it. So i have given up that company! :)
Thx for feeback siso7 :)
-
More old projects i found, i am making some textures.
Maybe i have to raise it from death!?

Intel Core i7 860 ~ 2.8ghz
8GB RAM
2000GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 Special Edition

J3nsen, you should send in one of the Color Line ships (or any other of your models will do the trick too :) ) you have made to VSTEP! :2thumbs:
After I got a newsletter about that everyone can send in their models and might get it as a ship in-game from the download pack, I immedatly thought of your models! :)
There is a big money price aswell :) (shure you have read it though ;) )
(Sorry for ripping off inn an old topic BTW..)

They should have this route on ship sim. I think it would be a fun one to do especially with this beautiful model. Are there any plans in the future for making the Bohus?
Love your work so far
Michael
-
Thx The Ferry Man! =)
______________________________________
I want Helsingborg - Helsingor route, but Stromstad - Sandefjord would be nice to! I started on M/S Bohus, but the deck plans are not the best way to follow! I got better plans to Viking.
Thx for feedback!

Looks great, maybe a little bit too tall..?
Both sisters (built as "Peder Paars" and "Niels Klim") are proven on several routes in Europe, under different flags and with changing liveries.
Like it

The good old "Bohus" will be history at the end of this saison, Color Line is looking for larger and newer tonnage. And of course the HH-connection would be nice! But a few decades before, when there was a stunning traffic with more than 10 ferries sailing the 20-min distance! :2thumbs:
-
I know this ship as the Stena Invicta which sailed between Calasi and Dover. In December 1996 I sailed with her from Calais to Dover. The sea was rather choppy and she listed sometimes. I think that this ship is not very stable.
-
Well, it was made for a Danish domestic short sea link.. ;)
-
michael_taal: I don't think am going to release it public yet, maybe later!
Bottman: I know, to bad. I like the that small ship, taking some trips with both ships in summertime!
MokMok: True! No, she's not really stable, but like Bottman told, is for short trips and not places with huge waves. But you can feel the 2 meters wave, and that waves are small than the channel between Calais and Dover have sometimes!

Aww she is looking good
Maybe we could have a Invicta with the cow catcher version as well
-
...or the current "Stena Nautica"?! ::)
-
...or the current "Stena Nautica"?! ::)
She doesn't look right with half the funnel chopped off... :(
-
Well, she still is a LEGO-type ferry and the missing funnel top makes her line a little bit smoother, I think. Maybe we can find together with her Trasmed-livery?
-
Ahh this livery:
http://www.faktaomfartyg.se/stena_nautica_1986_bild_4.htm
-
She is a beauty!
Her square funnel doesnt suit her now

And what happened to the lower passenger deck?
(or is it just the picture)?

it was cut out to fit a full hight car deck
The Invicta had a half height upper car deck, and so stena have cut it out on the Nautica and added a full height one instead

Testing out some textures, this are made in Photoshop 3D plugin, but its harder than i thougt! >:(

If she is not very stable, why was the Stena Invicta put onto the Calais-Dover route. Can she easily capsize in a choppy sea, is her GM and metacentric height so bad?

The Schichau-Seebeckswerft shipyard in Bremerhaven (Germany) rebuilded it for service in the English Channel. So it was stabel enough. After Color line bough it, they removed those parts and rebuilt it at Drammen (Norway).

Update: Made new windows, im quiet happy with the final job on those.

Holy makrel! That render is one of the nicest things i've ever seen! Is it built in sketchup?
@wave music, i've got a X-bow on the go, which i've nicknamed "modelercide" :P
If you do want to try an X-bow PM and i'll send you some blueprints that i have, which you might find useful
Happy birthday btw!
