Perhaps you have a grahpics issue, or perhaps your computer isn't quite up to the task. Hard to tell without any further info.

So, could you please supply your system specifications or dxdiag, this may help us to determine the problem.

Your dxdiag can be obtained by following these instructions:

Click Start > Run. type in dxdiag and press Enter.  You may see a popup asking about WHQL drivers, click Yes/Ok to proceed.

In the window that appears, click the button that says Save All Information, when the Save Dialog box appears, save the file to your desktop.  To upload the file here, click Additional Options underneath the reply area and choose Browse near Attach.  Browse to your desktop, click the file and click Open.

*  Windows Vista users need to press the Windows Key + R to access the Run prompt.

You can then post your reply with the file attached.

Regards,
Fred

Hi pheonixchain.

  • Good - Your processor is fast enough
  • Bad - You don't have enough RAM (you have 512MB. Absolute minimum is twice that = 1GB, but I'd suggest 2GB if you can afford it)
  • Bad - Your video card isn't up to requirements

If you look here you'll see required minimum specifications:
http://www.shipsim.com/features/gameplay.php
See "Minimum system requirements" section.

Hello pheonixchain,

I'm afraid your pc only has about half the required RAM needed to play the game properly.

Also your graphics card is below specs, you need at least a ATI 9600 PRo.

Also, you might want to look at your drivers.

Your grahpics driver is from early 2005, so I suggest you look at that. You can just google it, type in your card's name and "driver" and you're bound to find what you're looking for. (It wont help this game much, but is an allround wise thing to do anyway)

Your sound driver is from 2003, you could try to find a newer one for that aswell. Same principle, if you are not sure where to find it, google will point you in the right direction. (It wont help this game much, but is an allround wise thing to do anyway)

I'm afraid this game will run only properly if you get a better graphics card, increase the RAM and install up to date drivers.

There's not much you can do to get a game working properly unless your system meets the required specification, unfortunatly

See this. (Bottom of the page)

Regards,
Fred

Count your blessings, but always be ready for the missions that go wrong or the ships or environments that don't display properly.  ;)

Many people with that little RAM find they can't play the game at all. If you get into that situation, you probably won't get much help from us in Technical Support, because there's not much we can do. Vstep state those minimum requirements for a good reason.

There is a Good - thing though:

RAM is remotely cheap these days and it's small in your computer.

Quickest way:

Press the Windows button and "R", to get the run dialog. Type dxdiag and press OK.

The DirectX Diagnostic Tool will start. On the system tab you will see "Memory". Next to that will be the amount that your system has.

Even quicker:
Right-click my computer, choose properties and read last line ;D
