Ahoy Nathan,
Nice to hear about Your visit to Maassluis. Love to see Your pictures (soon). Your home in Germany confused me a bit. Your profile shows You're from the UK
Anyhow, about the Hudson: I searched for info and found a lot on hhtp://museumschiphudson.com , alas, that site is in Dutch only. Translated some higlights for You:
The Motor Tug Hudson was build in 1939, launched on april, 15th 1939, ready for sail at july, 3rd 1939 ready for her maidentrip. Left Maassluis on april, 16th 1940 for the last time before WWII reached Holland and escaped barely to Great Britain. In 1945, after beeing away for 66 month she returned to Holland.
After several other dutys, like beeing an icescratch (that stuff being used to cool meat and vegetables prior to the refrigarator) factory, she was ment to be scraped in 1988, but the "Help the Hudson" Foundation was able to save her and finally brought her back to Maassluis where she is now a floating museum. To my knowledge there are no plans to make here sail again.
Regards
Aad
BTW, there are some programs which can translate complete websites for You, like babylon.
