What in the world makes you think that that was why they hit the iceberg??!! Dont you see the Movie? They dont go "Hey lets hit the iceberg cause were so strong." Instead, they try to avoid it. Thats why they have the dramatic musics and guys shouting and steering the wheel.
1. That was a joke.
2. I don't go to the movie for information. Too much dramatic/creative/artistic/cinematic licence for my taste. Not to mention so many prochronisms that it makes it seem that the Titanic is the ship version of the Back to the Future Delorean! :o

Nothing beats years of dedicated research! ;D

But do you think they were thinking that?

If you drive a car on icy road, and are heading for a brick wall, is the first thought you have to steer so the car hits the wall, then find out later that that was the best way to hit it? Or do you think to try to STEER THE HECK AWAY FROM THE WALL!

?

But the passengers were not. Most would have been killed or seriously injured. Your silly suggestion shows an ignorance of the laws of physics.
If the ship sank from just brushing along the side of the berg, how could she survive being pulled to a dead stop from 21.5 knots in less than 100 feet?

I am a little unclear Marty. What would happen with the ship being stopped so quickly? I think i know but lets see what you have to say.
