What would you think of the RMS Lusitania and SS Edmund Fitzgerald joining the RMS Titanic in Ship Simulator?

Hi,
actually, we have already two old liners on this game: Titanic, and you RMS Gigantic! ;D

Joke aside, why not? I'm not a particular fan of the old ships but I understand there are here a lot of players who loves them, so you will easely find support, I guess.  ;)

I can see where you come from with the Titanic/Lusitania similarity:

but... the Edmund Fitzgerald looks completely different to me!

I didn't mention it here... but otherwise, there were quite a few differences between the Olympic and Titanic ON LAUNCH DAY! enough to make 1,003 ton difference and the Titanic 3 inches longer. The Britannic was 1.5 feet wider, had more life boats, and was a hospital ship...

But anyway, back to the subject: The Edmund Fitzgerald, being a lake cargo vessel, could get loaded with cargo, like the cargo ships! A mission with all three would be amazing! It could be like a relay: Lusitania docks near Titanic, which goes to the Fitz (lol, nick name used when it sailed) so it can make a delivery.

Why add another liner?

Add an old tanker or laker!
That would be great.

The Edmund Fitzgerald IS an old laker!

Also, the first line of the trailer is "From the great liners of the past," but how is that possible if, at this point, there is only one historic liner...?

That's because it's refering to ship classes rather than single ships.  "Kinds of ships" in the game, if you will.

It's just a nice way of putting it.. don't take it too literally.   ;D

"..The lake it is said never gives up her dead
when the skies of November turn gloomy
With a load of iron ore 26,000 tons more
than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty...."

I was at a marine archaeology event this past weekend where we had various presentations on shipwrecks in the Great Lakes. One talk was about the project to lift the original ship's bell of the Edmund Fitzgerald and replace it with a new one with the names of the crew engraved on it. This task was completed by the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum, with the assistance of HMCS Cormorant, a Canadian Navy tender for two submersibles. All are since retired. I got to meet the captain, dive officer and two crew of the Cormorant. They graciously signed copies of DIVER magazine which three of us won, describing the project.

The Fitz is famous here in Ontario, as it sits on the bottom in two pieces about 162 m down, just over 250 m in on the Canadian side of the US-Can border in Lake Superior just outside of Whitefish Bay. Check out Wikipedia for "Edmund Fitzgerald" for all the details. The wreck site is designated "off limits" to divers, because of the known presence of human remains. There are plenty of resources for pictures, data, etc. if anyone wants to try a model. I'm not able, or I would.

Sad shipwreck, still very much remembered here. I thing the "Fitz" would be a real addition to our fleet. JVH

As for differences between the Titanic and Lusitania, The Lusitania is noticably smaller, faster, and has a much different look in terms of decks.

Jan Van Heemstede, can you link to some of those resources? It's popular over in the US, too, as it was OUR laker! ;D Can we have it back, please?  ;D

my friend's "father" was first mate on her in the 74 season, he has pictures of it from that summer. He was moved to captain on another vessel for the 75 season, the pictures really set in when you look at them.

While Titanic DID sink, does the thought of her hay-day not fascinate?
