Multi Monitor
« on: July 08, 2007, 08:29:15 »

Is there any way of undocking the map/radar view and moving it to my second monitor.  This would be a really useful tool so that you can run the map on a second monitor in full screen mode.

Thanks

Neil

Hmmm,

that would be neat, but i say our technology these days wont be up to that yet.

Not true, I have run the last 3 versions of Flight Sim (for over 7 years) on two monitors.  They just allow you to rightclick on the window, undock it, drag it across to the second monitor, and then redock it.

There is hardly any frame rate hit.  I normally run the map in shipsim in a small window, it would be nice to run it on the second monitor as a bigger map.

Matt, with respect, I don't see how our technology wouldn't be up to that.

I doubt that ship sim have a docking/undocking feature for the map etc. but it is a great idea.

Hello together,

this was also one of my questions in the german forum. I also own several monitors and often use two due to programming of websites or photowork.

So, is it possible to use two monitors in ship simulator 2008 ?
I hope so because I don't want to buy the professional edition just to use several screens.

Do you know how to use more than two monitors on on pc?? Do you have to use several graphic cards or is there an opportunity to use something like a device to seperate the signal ??

No new internal hardware needed You just use a little white box (vid splitter) which utilises your existing port and splits it. No need for a second card-as far as I know, anyway! :)

I use multi monitors and multi pc's in my flightsimming rig.

The majority of fast graphics cards seem to have two outputs these days. However this does seem to impact frame rates.

A second card (pci) would seem to be the best option.

I greatly hope that this feature will be enabled at some time in the future as I can see that having the outside display(s) on a large screen or even projector and your instrumentation displayed on other screens would be far more realistic and engaging.

Bill.
