Does this really make gameplay bad?

Yes, why make a beautiful ship with lots of details and forget the technical details.

yes if the game said she will do 23kn them they need to up the engine speed to 80 rpm. titanics engines had a max of 83rpm meaning allmost 24kn maybe in the next patch they can up the engine speed?

Well, i don't think the rpm and the speed are related together in the game...  :D I think it's just some adjustments in the ship dynamics.

Of course, it all makes sense to me now.If the ship will go up to 85 RPM, it should give out more smoke than before, and that should solve the smoke problem for the Titanic as well.

Hi all :)

To be honest, I won't expect the Titanic's top speed to change. Only critical errors will be fixed as the developers are already working on the new SS2009.

It's not as easy as it might look. Increasing the top speed will fundamently change the dynamics model of the vessel and to get it right again could easily take a week of work.

The model will probably need an update for the SS2009 so my humble opinion is that updating the Titanic for SS2008 to gain only 1-2 knots will be a complete waste of time.

RPM and speed aren't directly linked in the game. Max RPM is set manually and is then linearly scaled to match the engine thrust. However, quite a few vessels have fixed RPM or a special program/curve (that isn't linear) so do not consider the game RPM for being realistic. It is simply an expression of the percentage of power ordered.
