I love the Bugsier 2  ;D

I can't wait man. If it's downloadable from here tomorrow, then I'm going to cancel my pre-order from my local shop (who get it on the 28th!). :)

I'm working on some short videos to show, how the new sea going Azimuth-Tractor-Tug is working with precision steering.

Hallo Bottman,

I noticed, that the steering of the Busier2 is different, than the one on “Ocean star” until now;  8)
with the 2006->2008 add-on patch.

Not easy to explain, but I’ll try:

When the green side (of the steering mech.) points to SB the Bugier2 will GO to SB and v.v..  :o

When the green side (of the steering mech.) points to SB the OCEAN STAR will GO to PORT  and v.v.!   :o

Is this corrected now with New Horizons so that the O.S. reacts the same way, or ?  ???

Vr. Gr. / regards Erik  :)

Hi I watched the video, seems good except: I have a big doubt looking at the azimuth levers. When you turn the levers clockwise, the tug turns to starboard (engines ahead) ?! Is that right on the real bugsier?

Because I worked on several ships with azimuth thrusters and it was the contrary on all of them. On these ships when you turns the levers clockwise they turn to port.

Is it a small bug to correct or does the bugsier has converse controls?

I'm not already looking to bug, but I will be a little disturbed with these controls in the game because I was in use to manoeuvre with controls in the opposite sense.

It is absolutely correct for both vessels, the "Bugsier 2" and the "Ocean Star", because the thrusters are at the opposite end of the vessels! On "B2" both azimuth thrusters are located forward, so if you turn them clockwise, the tug turns to starboard. At the "OS" it's exactly the opposite, because she has both thrusters under her stern. I have driven the "B2" by myself and our simulated tug works quite realistic...

Cheers

Ocean Star is back to the WW1 warships.  When the "old man" cried "Hard a'starb'd"  He meant "I need this tub to turn to port rather smartly, old chap"

Maybe the tugs you have been working on are not azimuth tractors, which means the prop units are located forward? It is quite easy to handle the "B2", because at the foward helm you have the thusters right beneath your feeds. That means, turning the joystick clockwise (to starboard) will turn the thruster clockwise too and the tug turns to starboard.

It's fine as it is...

I'm really happy to hear bugsier is ok.
I must confess I didn't think at all of the position of the azimuth units on forward ! And yes all the ships I have handled had azimuth on the stern. So thanks for the reply.

Eh eh, in the first moment I will have her on my hands, you shouldn't come too close to me, I think I will be a little confused with the control!  ;)

If it is so, try to navigate "B2" astern. That works quite good and with the same thrust directions as the "Ocean Star" in forward move... ;)

Hello Bottman and SS-friends,

I'm back on, after my little sleep.  ::)

Cheers

Your explanation make sence to me now. Thank you very much for that.  :)
Never worked with azimuth thrusters, but I did worked SCHOTTEL props, so I understand the principal.
I really thought, that the OS steering wasn't quite right and would be updated later by patch.
I could work it remembering it as a "helm" on a little sailingboat and so doiing it worked fine for me.
(pushing the "helm" to SB it would Go to port and v.v.)  ;D

vr. gr. / regards Erik

Right you are, Terry

Hi Erik.

It's the same way with any outboard engine as well. Push to port to go to starboard.
