Hi Together,

maybe not the best in quality, but my very first trial with a video. See the PRIDE OF ROTTERDAM leaving a quay in Hamburg...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGiBPb-t0YQ

Cheers

Nice work!  The video very much captures the spirit of leaving port.

And yes, there are ancilliary consoles on the bridge of modern ships having to do with watertight doors and firefighting readiness, etc, but these are not seriously to be thought of as legitimate parts of a ship simulator.

Cheers,
Michael

Wow!!

By the looks of it the mooring ropes look like they don't slam the ship against the wall anymore. Am I right?

I would love to see some pics of Southampton docks itself with the container ship included.

Great work!!!

Thanks,

As one who has been on the bridge of several ferries leaving port, that video gets my vote!

The bridge looks a little sparse, but the feel of a ferry casting off is superb!!!!

Also note that there are nav lights on side. Nice touch.

Stu

Thank you Stu,

I really love that stuff too, because I´m also a "ferryman", sailing on several ferries around Northern Europe - and a few years from Hamburg to Great Britain with the "Prinz Hamlet", "Hamburg"...

Well, the PRIDE is larger of course, but she behaves similar!

Well, there are pics from inside the wheelhouses, but except RED JET 4 there are no internal views possible. And as a former seaman I don´t like pics from sinking vessels very much.. :'(

Just watched it again and it really DOES feel like a ferry departing (I only know from a passenger perspective of course). Again the Red Eagle- the texture of the sea really does make it look likes its moving. That is superb. Really superb.

I've found the 'Prinz Hamlet' but can't find 'Hamburg'. Was it a similar ship? Without going off topic, I do have a special interest in ferries and P O Rotterdam is my main interest in 2008.

Stu!

The "Hamburg" was the former "Kronprins Harald" (Jahre Line), later she was renamed "Admiral of Scandinavia" (Scandinavian Seaways), propably one of the best ferries in their fleet, according to service, food...

Now she sails as "Caribbean Express", but most of her years in the North, she has served the Hamburg-Harwich route.

Cheers

(Guess, now we are off topic  ;))

Thanks Bottman

If you have time (and in an appropriate thread :) ) I would love to hear more about these ships- I'm sure many others would to.

They are fascinating machines when one ees them from behnd the scenes.

(apologies to all for the off topic comment- now going back on topic :) )

I agree, it is very sparse indeed... Take a look at this photo showing the middle consols on the sistership Pride of Hull:

Dynamics should still be priority 1 but hopefully the bridge interior will be updated later on...

Hi groennegaard,

I totally agree!!! That's why I'm looking for the ship dynamics with both eyes. And everything what's not correct, I´m telling the developer. And he tries really hard to reach my expectations than. So I never mind about the colour of the ceiling or something like that.. ;)

Here are some damages to see...

http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,533.25.html

Well, a ship sinking needs a running game with suitable mission I guess, so it's not so easy to fulfill your wishes.. :-\
