There is no hovercraft in SS2008 version 1.0 but if you bother to look at the SS2008 website, you can see that the hovercraft is still in development and will available later this year.

http://www.shipsim.com/features/gameplay.php

"Features currently in development
-Multiplayer
-Save function during missions
-Several new vessels, including a jetski and hovercraft
-AI ships with more realistic behaviour "

Some great photo's in this topic! If you have more, keep them coming because I'm sure I'm not the only one who loves them. I moved this topic to the media section by the way.

The color of these screenshots seems to be a little off (was that intentional?), but the resolution is spectacular.  I assume you have some serious PC specs?

Greetings JHB,
Where did you found that woman, because than i have to look on the vessels on some strange spots? ??? ;D :)
How did you putted her into the Ocean star.
If that vessel was more filled with people,it would also give a more real view, dont you think. And would it also use much of the game?
Very nice, keep up posting like this :)

It's just a photo manipulation Marc. I did "buy" her at Turbosquid. She is a female 3D model (very nice female model actually... :D) I just made the picture to make a small demonstration what one simple 3D character may do to the emptiness of life in Ship Simulator. ;)

Haha, nice  ;D

But in the end.. if nobody is moving it's a ship of dead people or just dolls, little bit freaky.  ;)

Reminds me of some scenes of "The hills have eyes" movies  ;D

Dolls... lol :D

Careful man! We are talking about females here (dolls… lol).  If you take a small search after cruise ship photos at Webshots then I can assure you that you will find many people wearing swim suites and that kind of clothing when they are on a cruise vacation. So I want to say that to bring females like her in the game (static or moving) at Ocean Star would be just perfect. I walk on these empty decks each time I sail Ocean Star and ask the same question over and over: “Where the heck are the passengers? Maybe they just jumped overboard just because they didn’t like the captain…!?” ;D

Besides seeing this feature in a technically way I think that static people will not have a large impact on the performance in a game. Animations have a greater influence on the performance. We had some static officers onboard some of the ships in SS2006. They brought some life into the simulation. I also remember that we had some flying birds in SS2006, even a flying airplane and some helicopters where you cud view the Manhattan skyline from the air. A cruise ship without passengers or crew is a ghost ship.
So yeah… Ocean Star is really a ghost ship.. Strange stuff did appear when she was sailing through the Bermuda Triangle… and all passengers including the crew did disappear, probably teleported by aliens. :o
