Try the Southampton - New York mission... You meet icebergs there.

No environment contains icebergs. Icebergs can be placed when a mission is created.

Hi peblozane and welcome to the forums,

Icebergs can be placed with the mission editor by selecting them from either the Static Objects list, or from the AI Objests list.

If you place the AI version onto an AI path, it will travel along this path, just as a ship would.

Fred

I just got ship simulator 2008 so I do not know were the static objects are and I don't know how to place the AI version on to a path and I don't know what an AI version is. Mad Fred , when you get a chance please tell me more about the static objects, the AI version, and how to select iceburgs  ;)

P.S. Do you think I have a damaged program because my titanic is missing some details like the smoke stacks, masts ect?

Thanks for your help,Zane.

Hi Zane,

Of course, no problem.

We talking about the editor right? Not the game itself?  If you haven't got the editor, then ingame, there is no way to put an iceberg into a mission.

You will have to upgrade your game to at least V1.1 to run the editor.

You can grab the patches here: http://www.shipsim.com/downloads/patches.php

First you must update to V1.1  (503 MB)
Then you must install the editor (5 MB)
And after that you can install V1.1 to V1.3 (227MB)

Ok, about the editor then;

AI means artificial intelligence.  Or... the autonomous vessels in the game. the pc controlled units, so to speak.

Static objects are just, well.. static objects. Some can be used to have a specific task in a mission. Others can just serve as eyecandy.

In the mission editor, you can place these objects. Aswell as player ships. You can then add waypoints with objectives, make AI paths (pathways for the 'pc controlled traffic' to follow), so you can just build a mission, to make a long story short.

The best thing to do would be to take a look at the manual for the Mission Editor. There is an official one in your root Shipsim 2008 folder. And there is also a great mission editor tutorial on the forum too, whihc you can find here:  http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,3653.0.html

These will tell you what you need to know to start off creating your own missions. And you'll see soon enough where you can select these objects and much more. I hope this helps!

Regards,
Fred

You can't in a mission. The only way you can sink without it is in free roam hit another ship.

now that makes no sense. icebergs are only in missions. if you sink in a mission, you fail. that's confusing.

I know, I watched a video called Sinking of the Titanic on ship simulator 2008, you can watch it on youtube,  there are two of those videos make sure you find the one that takes place at night.

peblozane,
Your problem with the missing funnels on the Titanic are probably due to the fact that your computer specs are not good enough to show them. Your graphics card is possibly not up to the standard required for the game. Check the Minimum specs on your CD case or on this forum in the "FAQ & announcements" section for Ship Sim 2008, "Technical FAQ"
