Hello mr. Robson,

I signed in as possible alpha tester for Nautis. I worked with Nautis in former days already, still have a (not working :-)) key of that edition.
I had to note that my computer does not meet the specs (but only concerning the video card, I have Geforce GT 710). Something possible to do with it I hope...

I hope so aswell, I have a GTX 750ti wich me and my friend compared ( he has the 1050ti) and got almost the same result and only  2-4 fps diffrence. But I hope it will work.

I think it will actually be interesting for some people to have a GPU that's listed below the recommended specs to see how the software will cope. Considering NH uses Unigine rather than Questviewer, I wouldn't be surprised if it runs far more stable and is less picky about the requirements. Especially regarding Intel HD Chipsets, which Questviewer simply refused to run on.
So if it runs, it's a good test to see what the performance is like, and if the framerate is still bearable.

Does Unigine have a more efficient source code than QuestViewer does?

Does Unigine have a more efficient source code than QuestViewer does?

In comparison, Questviewer has always been a bit of an odd engine developed by a very small team if I recall correctly. It was very hard to understand for newcomers to use this software due to a lack of a proper developer community. Its workflow was vastly different than other game engines. For example, there was no ctrl+z feature in it. Yeah, you had to do everything right in one go. That's one of the reasons why the ShipSim games became increasingly harder to maintain, because less and less people knew how to work with it.

Then there's Unigine, an engine that was developed much more recently and thus utilizes the potential of modern systems far better. There's also better documentation, though not in the same league as Unreal Engine, but from what I understood at least enough material to work with. The engine seems far less technically limited. The jump in graphics will be the first thing people will notice.

What that will say for performance, I cannot tell though, as I've always seen Nautis run on VSTEP PC's. A modern engine doesn't automatically guarantee a smooth game or sim. Hence why an Alpha is quite welcomed in my opinion.

What I wouldn't be surprised of, is that Nautis Home will generally run a lot more stable, with less of those odd errors and crashes that SSE was plagued with. Time will tell.

Can't say anything about the included vessels unfortunately.
The fully fledged Nautis has tons of vessels in it, but not all of them would fit well for consumer end use.

Does anyone know when more info about the alpha will be released?
Don’t get off my current ship until the end of this year, so I’m hoping it’ll be right around then.

October 31st, 2019
The signup for Pre-Alpha Prototype testing has been closed. We will soon begin the next phase with a small group of enthusiastic testers.

WOOT,

*watches E-Mail inbox every second of the day hoping for an email invitation*

I loved SSE and am very happy to see a new modern updated version of it coming! :)

good evening
I also signed up for the Alpha test of the new simulator, I hope to be one of the chosen ones, otherwise I will have to satisfy the comments of who will be the chosen lucky one, apart from this, some of you know the minimum requirements to run on a pc Nautis ??? I would be grateful in advance.
Thanks and good wind to all.

Unfortunately, the Alpha has been closed with only a select few of testers being picked.

Good morning
Yes, in fact, I signed up in good time, and they told me that only a few would be chosen, I presume I'm not one of them, but I don't even know that the alpha test version has already been released.

Good evening to all sailors
We haven't talked about Nautis Home anymore, at what point am I, a simulation version will be released for everyone, was it just a failure ???
I understand the current situation, this damned virus, it does not want to give up, but let's hold on, I hope they decide to implement a mass vaccination as soon as possible, otherwise we will not get out soon.
Good luck.

Hi Cob,
Vstep sent a message last year to say that work on development of Nautis Home would by delayed due to staff having to work from home because of the lockdown due to Corona virus. the latest news is that development is set to restart quite soon.
Regards,
Angus.
