When I tried to register my key I got this error: "The entered license key is already in use by another user."
I have tried lowercase, uppercase, and making sure I entered the key correctly.

I received it as a gift but they bought it from the website

Find out if its second hand if so the people you bought it off need to unregistered the licence key on steam Application and Forum.

It is a non-steam version. They Bought it off of Shipsim.com

Now it says my key is just invalid it doesn't say anything about being registered to a different user... weird.
