hey does anyone know how to remove water quickly and easily? currently i'm filling the lower hull with sponges and then destroying them, but thats proving to be very time consuming.

finally finished spongeing the lower hull. ;D

you can download the finished lower hull and customize it to any ship. it's 400 blocks long, includes a hollow bulb, and is compatible with screws and azipods alike.

she can sail with the zeppelin mod; i will be getting it when patch 1.3 comes.

luckily, in 1.3, installing mods will be as easy as downloading a texture pack or world save, and no loader will be required.

heres the coming features, from minecraft wiki.

Quote
New slabs of the 3 new plank types.
Wood slabs behave as wood, not as stone.
Cocoa Plants that generate on the sides of jungle trees, which can be harvested for cocoa.
Cocoa Beans have a new texture.
Cocoa Beans drop from jungle tree leaves at the same rate as apples.
Villagers spawned from spawning eggs will get a random profession.
Wooden tools can be burned in furnaces.
"Large Biomes" world type.[1]
Fix for glitchy mob prediction in multiplayer.[2][3]
Large amount of internal changes.[4]
Silk Touch will be able to pick up Ice and Glass Panes.[5]
Stackable items now stack outside inventory when thrown to the ground individually.
Easier item manipulation within inventory
Brewing Stands allow use of shift clicking to put items in it.
⇧ Shift+clicking can now be used to wear armor.
Dispensers can place Minecarts on rails and Boats in water.
While in Creative Mode, players can supply a powered minecart with fuel by right clicking it as if they were holding coal.
Flying in Creative Mode is no longer affected by water and lava.
Commands in Singleplayer.[6]
Optional bonus chests placed close to the player when creating a new world.[6]
Demo mode playable through non-premium Minecraft.net accounts.[6]
Different crafting recipe for books.
Added Book and Quill and Written Book.
Ability to write in book and quill (up to 50 pages), save them to edit later, and sign them and title them to finish off the book.
All multiplayer sounds have been fixed.[7][8][9][10]
Fishing lines are now visible in SMP.[9][11]
Hardcore in multiplayer (HMP).[12]
Better chunk loading in SMP.[13]
⇧ Shift-clicking in Creative improved.
Singleplayer will be a local server.[14]
Specific names for different Wood, Wooden Planks, Leaves, Saplings, Sandstone, Stone Bricks, and Monster Eggs. (e.g. Oak Wood, Birch Plank, Spruce Leaves, Jungle Sapling, Smooth Sandstone, Chiseled Stone Bricks, Stone Monster Egg).[1]
Empty Buckets are now stackable up to 16.[15][16]
Trading with Villagers[17]
New currency item (preview image)[17]
A new ore block which will probably drop items related to the new currency, or it is a new texture for Redstone Ore. It can be seen on the top right-hand corner of the screenshot (enhanced version).[17]
New gravel texture or a new block for the path of Villages as seen in the preview screenshot (enhanced version).[18]
Villages can spawn in Jungle Biomes (possibly more).[18]
A new type of Golden Apple[19] with attributes the Golden Apple had before 1.1.[20]

new update: notch is adding a very exciting feature: pyramids. ;D

screenie:

he says that inside it contains a room with four chests; each chest contains valuable items. but its not so easy as it seems; of course with a feature this epic, there would have to be an Indiana Jones type adventure. there is a hidden pressure plate in the room, and below that are 9 blocks of TNT.

and yes, those are sandstone stairs. :2thumbs:

1.3 will be an absolutely incredible update! ;D ;D ;D

I setup a world on my server for you guys if you want to build something together.  ;D

I hope the mods are ok with that.

minecraft.austingratzer.com

I do have worldedit and voxelsniper installed so if I'm on I can help place large portions of material. I can also protect your builds with worldguard. Just type /help for all the commands you can do. Right now there is a max players of 8. But I hope to upgrade that soon.
