Question about radar
« on: September 29, 2011, 12:35:49 »

I noticed that on the Departing from Down Under mission, the one where you have to navigate around all the icebergs in the heavy snow, that if you're looking at the ship's radar in the walk-around view you can see the icebergs on the radar, but on the pop-up panel radar, it doesn't show the icebergs.  Is there some setting to make the icebergs show on the pop-up radar panel?

Thanks,
Mark

The radar located in the bridge console and on the walk through overview should display the same picture. Except for the range, there aren't any settings, like clutters, that you can adjust.

It would be nice if the radar was more improved, for example breakwaters are now only visible in the smallest range (0.125NM) on the radar.

Thanks for passing this one on!

Hmmm, any idea why the outlines of the icebergs would show up on one display and not the other, then?  I'm running the Steam version, 1.4.

Thanks,

I have no clue what could be the problem. I tried to re-create it to pass it on to the devs, but it shows that my radar doesn't display icebergs at all.

Is it possible that you can take a screenshot with both radars on it?  :)

So how do you navigate around the icebergs if you can't see them?

I'll try to post some screenshots when I get home tonight.

Thanks,

Personally I never sail in the Antarctic environment. For me it's all about arriving and depature in port and manoeuvering in close quarter situations, but that is just me  :)

Hello Mark and Menno,

I have seen this for the first time LAST-night, as I had my Antarctic-server on !
Stumbled on the same problem, Stormforce did see it too and can confirm the observation !  ::)

The pop-up radar does NOT show any echo / reflection at all; Not even the Island is showing !

I have no clue what could be the problem. . . . .

Is it possible that you can take a screenshot with both radars on it?  :)

I just saw this thread and made some screenshots to show the problem. ( It was in Free roam now !)  8)

Problem is the same / checked it on the Dover server this afternoon: NO problem there !   ???

vr. gr/ kind regards Erik

Hi Erik,

Thanks for that. It's still strange that Mark can see the outlines on the walkthrough radar screen, while I (and you?) can't see them at all  :-\

There was a report before on Bugtracker about icebergs not being visible on radar, but I can't seem to open it on the moment. I'll try again later.
