bollards in dover?
« on: August 23, 2011, 05:09:01 »

well i was doin a calais-dover trip and when i got to dover and began to berth, i could not find any bollards or things to moor to.

because i was not tied down, the infamous bouncy-quays problem sent me across the port.  >:(

i tried docking in cargo terminal 8.

can anyone tell me what dover berths have bollards and will bollards in the cargo terminal be added in the next patch (along with the bouncy-quays of course ::))?

Not to sound cliched, but what a long, strange, trip it's been.

I just counted over 90 mooring bollards in the Dover – Calais free roam environment in 1.4.
I’m not running 1.3.5 right now, but you can check for bollards there very easily by opening the FreeRoam.xml file in the Mission Editor.
You will find it in C: > Program Files (x86) > Vstep > ShipSimExtremes > Projects > ShipSimExtremes > Data > Environments > Dover.
You will find all bollards listed in the Entities in mission panel.

Hi Rb,
Try selecting "toggle ships on/off" if you are playing free roaming. This might make the mooring bollards appear for you. I am not 100% sure if this works in build 1.3.5. but give it a try.
(25.08.2011.) Now that the 1.4.0. patch is released this will definitely work.

Here is a screenshot from 1.3.5 showing some of the 90+ mooring points in Dover.
The “Freight Service Area” is a parking lot. Semitrailers are seldom moored.

It can´t be the serious statement that this depends on the ai traffic...

Sorry to say that it is so. I posted this some days ago but nobody has responded to it. I wonder why?

Hi,

that seems to work but honestly...how embarrassing is it that the bollards must be "enabled" ???

I really cannot understand this, especially not why that took half a year and some things were improved and others were worsened.

It´s really a shame!!!

I'm not seeing the Bollards at Dover regardless of whether I had toggle ship on/off checked or not.
What else should I try?

Hi Azipod,
You should see the bollards when you click on "Toggle ships on/off" as this is the way it works now since 1.4.0. build 1086.  I cannot see any reason why you are unable to see them. Have you tried any of the other envionments?
