Save the money,

Buy the game first, then if you REALLY enjoy it then buy the console.

You will thank me if you do it my way.

HI Pete

if you ask me and i will give my honest answer that are only mine meaning, why need it, i only us the keyboard and mouse and that work weary god, i do not need this expensive gadget they sell, if you shall have something bay a joystick instead, well this is only my meaning. but if you relay need it do as Mattaust tell by the game try it out with mouse and key board and see how that work and bay the console later if you feel you need it , and to spear you for many problems bay the game from www.shipsim.com so you got a game without steam and BDW you can also bay the consol their to http://www.shipsim.com/products/shipcontrolunit
I was maybe a kind negative now but i talked only out from watt i mean
Kind regard

Hi pete, Tore is right, you don't really need a controller to play the game (but it's nice to have a new toy  ;D )
I use a Saitek X52 Pro, in combination with an old steering wheel I had laying around, works great..
Here's the Saitek site, maybe you see something you like..  ;)

I have the Ship Console Unit  :2thumbs:
It is absolutely fantastic, if I had a joystick it just wouldn't feel realistic  :-\
But there are so many buttons on the console unit!

I bought it so I can have the screen with no controls on it, and also instead of fiddling around with the mouse and keyboard a simple push on the throttle sticks and I can see where they are
So overall I reccomend it, But...

  • 1. I had a bad experience with Simware, they sent me a faulty console unit and then made me pay the postage back  >:(  But I'm sure they have got their act together by now!
  • 2. Hold off for a while, as the developers have been slightly naughty, they have not included quite a few actions for the console unit in SSE, I mean that now there is 6 buttons which are useless.
I have contacted them and hopefully they shall fix it! Heres the topic...

But it is very, very good yes
If you have any questions, please PM me  :)

Kind Regards

Matthew
