So
a week ago, my dad and
I were driving
through the Cape Cod Canal
under the Sagamore Bridge, and
we both saw this ship sailing towards the Atlantic
The thought a ship this large fit through the canal was amazing, seeing as it twists a lot. It's normal for us to see tugs with barges, but I never thought that would make it through
She's
299 meter (
984.0 ft)
I'm glad I was there to see it
Sorry to almost double the size of your vessel but... This thing was HUGE!!! Our boat was at the very base of the ship as it passed us. I was talking to one of the deck hands later and I asked him how close the ship comes to the bottom of the railroad bridge (The 2
nd largest vertical lift bridge in the world, his reply was, "At low tide the ship's bridge comes within 10 feet of the bridge span. We have to lower some of the comm antennas.")
