For the many SS users who don't come on this forum and don't know the release date... who do you think they will buy from- the one publishing the earliest release date?

Then 2 days before that, "Dear sir.. sorry. it's delayed. We weren't to know. blah blah blah" But they will have your money by then...

I think Terry posted something in a older topic about the same thing on amazon. That in their Terms of Service they say that release dates can be made-up.

LMAO

Edit:

Amazon do seem to do that quite a lot. I often see them advertising things that I know cannot be released when they claim it will be. That seems dubious to me, at best...

But it is Amazon who make the claims, not the authors or suppliers of the books or software, etc.

Perhaps it is best idea to find out the minimum specs for Ship Simulator Extremes first!

Ascaron do a range of pirate ship games... Perhaps one of those poor lambs at Amazon got a little confused ;)

I wonder who that dashing fellow is with the rather funny hat, who is intently looking west, in Terry's avatar..

It's already on the UK Amazon listing for a few months now so it's no big secret.

I note on the UK Amazon that SSE is "by Ascaron", not Vstep so I suspect it is a games vendor who will be responsible for the marketing and distribution of SSE.

EDIT: just found a wikipedia entry for Ascaron which seem to confirm my theory:

"Ascaron is also known for publishing or distributing many games from smaller developers and publishers"

No problem Jim.

I would imagine Amazon is OK as I think it's because Vstep need help with the distribution when SSE is released, so it's possible they may have asked Ascaron to act as a vendor on their behalf. (could one of the Moderators possibly confirm this?)

I've checked the United States Amazon website for SSE and there's a different company called Paradox, which again I suspect is a distribution company for that country.

I might buy one from Amazon or Play.com, however I am more interested in the minimum PC specifications for SSE, which are not known at this stage.

That is really the job of the publisher. That is what the publisher is for... That's why they will take a massive cut of the eventual retail price.

Isn't this Paradox or something similar?

Yeah Paradox.

I think Pardox will be responsible for MAKING the boxed copies of SSE, and Ascaron for distributing them.

I'm just gonna miss that Lighthouse Interactive film...

Yes you can...

You just have to wait till it gets delivered though.  ;D

And who wants (or is able to, for that matter) to wait that long? ;D
