RC Chat
« on: September 13, 2009, 04:13:26 »

alright, i'm starting this topic for 2 reasons. 1. so we all have a place to talk about anything Remote control related, cars, boats, planes etc... 2. I am trying to find a good truck or suv that does good offroad like the Tamiya models, but i dont have the knowledge to finish putting in servos, recievers and such. ::)

Hi MC,

I could help you out with regards to the Electrics setup..If you need it. I'm only into the RC boats, but the principal of RC Control should be similar/Almost the same.

I've got the 4 boats now...One needs a total refurbishment (Winter Project), which will include new electrics, motor etc. I'll post a topic about it, hopefully :)

I have Tamiya's TGS chassis with FS-12SS nitro engine wich is 2.11cc and atm it's top speed is ~85km/h with tuning exhaust and few DIY-mods :P
It's 4WD on-road car and i have slicks on.

I also have 2 RC sailing boats. They are self made with my step-father few years ago. They are kinda close to ACCs. Both have 2 sails and trims for them.

I am a huge live steamer!

I just love all things to do with steam!  Mostly Trains and boats though, that would be the inspiration behind the Sabino.

Also I own numerous live steam engines, some of them homemade and some bought... ;)

It is still stuck on an ironing board, with no skirt...

I also found I can't solder, which is a big problem...

My main Boat ;D

Hibernia:

Two 6V batteries that power the whole boat, rather than one 12V Battery to power just the engine (A 12V Would blow the lights), two 6V's can power the lot. This includes, Bow Thruster engine/servo, Main Engine, Rudder Servo, Speed Controller's (Bow Thrust, Main), horn, And a working lights system.

There are also two fuses, one for the Bow Thruster, one for the engine....Should any pressure be put on either, the fuse will simply blow....So's not to give any bother to the engine/shaft.

As I mentioned, she also has a full working lights system...I only ever switch them on at the local show, though. Otherwise, it wastes battery!

Fred (The Builder of Hibernia) has been building boats since he was a lad, and he built Hibernia very very well indeed....Everything has been planned and thought about, e.g. there is and emergency access hatch to the Servo/Rudder at the stern, which is coated with a red lining, which acts as a waterproof, as well as allowing you to be able to cut it open, if access is needed. It can then just be replaced.

She was built roughly 4 years ago now, from plans and photo's of the real ship. She's a lovely boat, Proud to own her :)

Won't be too long till the local show at the castle...Will be bringing Hibernia with me to put on our Fleetwood Stand :)
