I think WM does have a point- for once. And since vstep aren't going to listen to this anway, we might as well discuss whether the sun should rise in the East or the West tomorrow.

RMS gigantic- I was trying to say that vstep aren't going to eliminate titan... :sleepy:..ic with all the work that's been done on it.. Yes, sure people want more, more, more... but compared to starting a new model to replace it, it is a pointless debate.

If you actually look I am agreeing with you. Please don't make me switch sides...

I was saying it should be in because it's a good marketing strategy. If they got Cunard's permission to model the QM2, putting her and Titanic both on the cover of the game would lead to a gold mine in terms of sale numbers! Remember, companies want the most amount of money possible. If someone doesn't like a ship, all they have to do is never use it.

Those who ask for Titanic's removal are basically writing to an airline that offers peanuts and pretzels in flight asking them never to serve pretzels again because they prefer its peanuts.

Well, when you consider that Titanic uses more CPU in the sim, by just being there, or taking up more HDD space which I'd rather use with perhaps more important things.
Also having Titanic being in a MP Selection, I've never seen a Titanic in MP. That must count for something?
Also, I don't think Titanic attracts soo many people as you assume. What missions can you use the Titanic for? Can you get through the Atlantic ocean without sinking? What else? Titanic was only built for transatlantic crossings.. ::)

I don't know, but I guess with Titanic being in SS08, why would people buy SSE just to get Titanic again? SSE I wouldn't think would be much different to SS08 in that respect.

Also, RMSG, you say there is much more work to be done to the model in the sim. The ship is CPU heavy already, I don't think VSTEP will work more on it and add more polys which will end up with the minimum Specs to be even higher. Do you really think that will attract new customers?

One good point though - Titanic is good only for running in to icebergs!

Ship Simulator would be considered by the masses to be a rather dull game as it stands now, when looking at SS08. Not that many people, especially inland, would have an interest in a game only about piloting a ship around, especially with a ship and environment selection that small. Many people, however, are suckers for pop culture! Stick something famous into a game and it tends to sell it, just look at the console games! Putting in a gimmick like the inanimate star of the highest grossing film of all time and at least a few dedicated fans are bound to notice. Those people buying the game helps sales, which gives VStep more money, which, in the long run, is what a company is all about. By the time they realize that it's perhaps only good for looking at, they've already tossed the money down.

ship simulator is about ships and dealing with real problems that happen on ships that includes saving people. and yes i know you dont see any one walking on the titanic but it still adds to the affect of it.

it should be about all ship things and another thing they should have people walking around on the titanic they should also add more interior. and with the life boats only one being lowered would be ok  so you could escape the water. also they should alow you to fire distress calls so they could send a boat that could apear once it goes down. and i know i am a huge titanic freak

Ship Simulator uses animations for its sinkings, so you can not recreate 1912 without eiter exploiting a bug or illegally tampering with the game's elements and/or files.

Hi bdomi2,

if you post a new message after a previous one you made, and no one else has reacted yet, then it's best to modify your exsisting topic and adding a new remark to it, than to make several posts in a row.

If you combine it to one, it looks much more tidy!!

Thanks!!

thanks Mad_Fred for the advice and for RMS Gigantic ive seen it been done on you tube i just dont know how if you dont belive me look it up it way not snap but it sinks head on and thats another thing you damage the ship at the bow but the stern sinks faster. iv hit an iceberg just as it did in 1912 and it only damaged the bow but yet it sank stern first ::) :captain: :police:
with the sinking i think you use the ancors to do it

You're welcome!

Regarding the rest;

The ships in the game pretty much always sink the same way.

But.. you can force a different style, by dropping anchor, and such. Take any ship, and drop anchor while sailing. (you have to be slow enough for the anchor to be active, so to speak. < 5kts)

You'll go nose down, and up over end even, ending up upside down..

You're not supposed to sink anyway, you have to keep the ship and the passengers alive. NOT using the lifeboats always has priority.   ;)  ;D

Fred.

P.s.  I explained about double posting, please modify your post if you add something new to your post and there hasn't been a new reply from someone else yet.  ;)

no offense to the idea of adding lifeboats (which i'd love!) but i dont think vstep will add  working lifeboats because it'd create too much lag. :captain:

yes i know how to sink it realistically. first damage the ship so it starts sinking, drop the anchor and go full speed forwards it's awesome!  :captain:
