Is anyone here a musician?
« on: March 20, 2009, 22:13:46 »

Hey, I am curious, does anyone here play any instruments? I play 3. (If you want to get technical, 4)
Flute
Trumpet
Cornet (Basically a small trumpet)
And last but certainly not least, my favorite;
I also play tuba.

Harmonica
Descant and treble recorder
Bass guitar (4 and 6 string, accoustic and electric)
Guitar, mandolin, sitar, balilika, etc
Keyboards/piano
Accordian
Various drums and hand drums (boudhran and so on)

My wife plays
Standard harp
Cross-strung harp
Guitar
Piano

But my sister is the musician. I've lost track of the instruments she plays. But then she is a Professor of Music at The Royal Academy.

My family is very musical. We had all sorts of instruments around us as kids and we were encouraged to pick them up and play with them.  I learned to play the first three in my list before I was 6. Badly, but I new which end to blow...

That made the rest a lot easier. Guitar, sitar, mandolin, all similar (but different).

I play three instruments, the Piano Accordion, The Piano, and the Tin Whistle (or as the English call it, the Penny Whistle). I also tried out the Melodeon once (Button Accordion), Managed to be able to play it within about an hour, but, I decided I liked my Piano Accordion more, as the sounds flows better, in my opinion.

Back home, I used to be in a band too, entered in lots of competitons, I'll have to see if I can get all my old Trophy's and Medal's out, most were achieved by the accordion mind you, the Accordion's always been my favourite!

A pic of my accordion (On the right for those who aren't sure what an accordion looks like-To the left is the Melodeon, and the Tin Whistle in the middle! ;D):

I play guitar (accoustic and electric) and bassguitar (ditto, 4 and 5 string) and drums (and percussion). Played all of them on a semi-professional level, in bands. (Still do)

I can play lots of instruments 'a little bit', from being around them so much as a kid - like Terry, but much less diverse.  Enough for a fun time in the pub or at a party with friends, but not enough to go on stage professionally, so to speak. Like bluesharp, flute, sax, piano, keyboards..  Haven't really played much of those the last years.. apart from keyboards.
