The current Blue Riband holder (Westbound record) is the SS United States, since 1952(!) Av.speed 34.51 knots
Not surprisingly, she also holds the record for the fastest Eastbound crossing.. Av.speed 35.59 knots

Staying with this theme: after a ship had won the Blue Riband she would fly a blue pennant..
How long was this pennant?   :)

Nope.. I'm off to bed, the answer is: the length depended on the average speed of the crossing..
So in the case of SS United States, it would have been about 34.5 feet..
Anyone to go..:)

Nope   ;)

Clue: 400.000 people visit this ship every year, and one of the reason is the brass plate on the Surrender-Deck. The Inscreption: Over this spot on ..... The ship at that time was anchor in ....   ;)
