Does anyone mind me asking a question for any clever people (or TFM)... It isn't part of the quiz, but didn't want to start a new topic for a simple Q...

"Is the MV Prinses Paola the same as the tub named MV Tropicana that ran fom Miami to Bimini for a few years, per chance?" I've seen a few very similar photos, but remember the Topicana being much bigger...

TFM... This is a question for you, methinks (although it left Dover before you were born. Ahh bless)

Shame... She was a nice old tub...

I didn't realise what it was at the time, although I suspected it was an ex Dover (and Ostende in hopefully a future environment) ferry...

APOLOGIES to the quiz master for going (SLIGHTLY) o/t. Cheers TFM

Some or everyone should know this:
What P&O Ferry is having an overhaul? and for a bonus, what vessel (P&O) is taking the route with the overhauling vessel's sister?

Okay what is LD Lines newest acquistion to be called?

(formerly Brave Merchant)

and Blanca del Mar / Ave Liepaja.  A very nice ship which should serve LD well.

Personally I was holding out for NORMAN WISDOM, or NORMAN STANLEY FLETCHER, but alas, not to be.

Here was the answer:
This is the only P&O Ferry in SS08, the Pride of Rotterdam. McGherkin, you got the answer right and the bonus was Pride of York. Nathan had the name of the substitute vessel in PoR's Overhaul topic a while ago. So you can go McG

SS Conte di Savoia

Famous bit: Either the crewman who plugged a leak or the gyro system.

Correct, in her day unique in that she had 3 large gyro stabilisers installed in her lower hull
(but that was indeed a brave crewman that plugged her leak)..

I knew you'd get that one.

Lovely ship. Have been onboard when she came to visit, and also when we came alongside with the PO Bilbao in Biscay... Amazing sight when under sail.

Your turn, Mr WM
