The Pilot boat isn't the right model !
« on: July 23, 2007, 15:05:01 »

The Pilot Boat in the game is the same model as the Arie de Visser Lifeboat. This type of pilot boat do not exist in real time. The must build a model that realy exists ! (see photo below)

That is my opinion about this vessel.   ::)  How do you think about this ?  ;D

Greetings,
Yes,you can have the real model, but than it's the time of release that start to matter.
I think Vstep took a very good option to use the Arie visser,as a replacement.
Maybe they can change it in time,an make the real "Pioneer"vessel for the game.

I think we never made a secret that we double-used the Arie Visser as a pilot boat, changing just the colors and some of the interior. This was the only way we could add a pilot boat in the game in the development timeframe we had. For us, the missions and gameplay were more important than the question of using exactly the right pilot boat model.
We may add another pilot boat at some stage in the future. But other ship types, that offer new gameplay and missions, are higher on the wish list.

That's because it is easy for us to get the designs, and the sailing characteristics etc.
We can also go there ourselves to make pictures.
We have good contact with the Dutch pilots, so they can visit our office to tweak the parameters.
So it's really just for practical reasons.

Hey Pjotr, i fully understand, ill be the last to complain with your work at shipsim.
I just couldnt resist to bring up the reason why we (Belgians) are sometimes good in what we do ;D
So, in other words, keep up the good work there at shipsim, looking forward to see new things in the future.
In the meantime i can practice my manouvering skills without making my feet wet all the time.

@simplayer: How old is your (Wandelaar?) Pilotcutter? Ours from the Ems was made in 1963.
