Sorry to criticize again but...
The port holes are disproportional to the rest of the ship. They appear to be the same size as a person.

P.S love the new window texture!

the portholes are meant to be big, but there were too huge indeed, so i scaled them down.

Hm, seems odd to me to have a slanted box for a back compared with the rest of the ship....

a ''boxed'' stern seemed to fit for this ship because of the superstructure that's pretty big.

a round shape for the stern would mess up the design pretty well.

Hi Rob,

If there was to be a critism of the stern, I would say it's a little too slanted. Personally I would not slope the stern quite to much :)

finally the stern is done!  ;D
all details are added just like the foreship.
plus also a staircase which can bring you to any deck.

Hi Rob,

This looks amazing, you really do have a fantastic model here and I think it could be a serious contender :)

Have you done any work on the bridge? I am concerned that you are putting too many details on the rest of the ship and leave the bridge lacking because of the poly count.

Which remind me, what IS the poly count so far ;D

ah i knew i forgot to mention something, the polycount is 121.939 polygons
and the limit is ~300.000 polygonsthat's 178.061 polygons left for the balconies, sundeck and bridge.
balconies shouldn't take up much polygons, and the sundeck has a limit of 100.000 max. to me, leaving +- 70.000 polygons for the bridge.

i think im still fine  ;)

current schedule:

hull      DONE
bridge      WIP
interior                DONE
bow      DONE
stern      DONE

midsection   WIP
boatdeck                DONE
sundeck      WIP

~65%

to do list as followed:

Balconies
Bridge
Sundeck.

It is a truley masterful model

you stick a curve into SU though and the polycount shoots through the roof...

Hello all!

As usualy AMAZING UPDATE! But i think, these is one of the best!

Stern looks much, much more better now ( with curve ), and with all those deatiles, like chairs, deckchairs and other, it looks absolutly amazing. Well, maybe the some bar is missing, but it would be better to leave some polygons for a bar on the sun deck... so that is not souch a problem.

I still can't wait to see the sun deck with pool and playgrounds, "aquagans" and other parts on sun deck, and also for the bridge.

These model is in one word AMAZING!

Keep going with great updates!  :2thumbs:

Many kind regards.

thanks!

first row of balconies done, i hope i did a good job of not letting the cabin stand out too much from the rest.

also the cabin's balconie has been changed, it's wider now, the deckchairs are the correct size, and the deck texture has been changed to the one used on all decks.

Hi Rob,

The cabin looks great! Might I suggest that the balcony doors remain open? Might be nice to allow a walkthrough onto the balcony.

However, that is something for a later date perhaps :)

if the doors can be animated they will be in a closed position untill you approach the door. otherwise if doors can't be animated it will remain open  ;)

« Reply #398 on: October 23, 2010, 12:15:09 »

good news everyone, all balconies are placed now!

find the detailed cabin  ;D

polycount a little higher then i expected, the ship now has 201637 polygons, that's
115803 polys left for the sundeck and bridge.
in case i might get into trouble with polygons i know the neccesairy things to do to get a lower polycount.
next: Bridge, yay!  ;D

ok first thing to change at the bridge as we all agree, the size

the bridge is a lot flatter now, also the desks will be much less then shown before.
