It would be amazing, if there was a Polar scenario, to have an ice breaker or two

Well, Antartica will be in SS2010 but there's no telling what other vessels we will be getting.  Vstep has been secretive on there developments thus far with the exception of the short teaser. But in addition to an icebreaker i'd like to see maybe one or two icebreaking tankers which are capable of breaking through ice without assistance from a vessel dedicated to icebreaking duties.

These last two pictures are the new build, Mikhail Ulyanov. Beautiful design. I can't wait to see her when she's done.

I voted for tugs and here are my reasons:

Since VSTEP released what kind of ships the SS'08 would get I proposed the integration of tugs with Voith-Schneider or pod/azimot/schottel propulsion. This is interesting and challeging to stear / manouver.

Here are some examples

This is tug uses stern drive schottels

Am with you Blackbat,
These type of vessels are a good challenge, once a good azimuth controller gets on the market it will be more fun.

An Icebreaker would be good.

Also PDF Charts of each harbor with berth info
1. AIS
2. Intergrated Teamspeak (VHF)
3. COMARPA
4. Some type of Bridge Navigation System
5. Dynamic Positioning if possible

I would like to see these vessels on ship sim ;D Five of these vessels were built for the shetland island council in 1974 but thay are is only one still in service today and that is the "THORA" and two of the other sisters still remain in shetland but both now converted to workboats, the other two are away from home, one is working in canada named "ISLAND JOINER" and the other one has been converted in to a workboat called "TASK ONE". :thumbs:

 A VLCC  in Ballast.  Or part cargo.
It would be good if there was a facility to make the VLCC model vary in loading condition..

well, might i make a small suggestion

why not replace the pride of rotterdam with the pride of bilbao seeing as you have portsmouth maybe add her spanish port aswell ;)

and actually allow her to sail into portsmouth continental terminal, instead of letting the pride of rotterdam ground at the entrance, so i suppose you would have to add in the terminals, portsmouth and santurtzi :thumbs:

also mabye some calmac boats :2thumbs:

I agree, we could do with a CalMac ferry in Ship Sim  :thumbs:

MV Caledonian Isles, the Arran ferry. She is 94m long, 15.8m width and has capacity for 1000 pax and 110 cars. Top speed is 15 knots.

p.s. My son says he wants to see a 50,000 hp turbo-charged speedboat in Ship Sim! (I think he watches too many 'Top Gear' programme on TV!!  :lol:)

The IoL is in Virtual Sailor...

Hi Nathan,

They're not sisters but both of them were built within a few years or each other so in some respects they have similar designs (i.e hull shape, wheelhouse etc).

Caledonian Isles was built in 1993, while Isle of Lewis was introduced 2 years later.

Kev

p.s. I have IoL in VS, very nice!  :)

MV Oriana....IMO one of the prettiest of the modern breed of cruise ships;

Also one of my faves because a fairly close cousin of mine was commodore ian gibb, who commanded this ship for the first 5 years or so of its service before he retired....I'd love to be able to sail it in shipsim  :thumbs:

Like i said, best of the modern cruise ships....if we're gonna get into a discussion about liners of a similar ilk to the original oriana, i always preferred the look of the canberra;
