Not quite.

Vegemite is made from vegetables, while Marmite is made from yeast (a fungus). Perhaps "Fungamite" would more appropriate?  ;D

Err.. Terry, I think you're not quite right there. I have some Aussie friends that kept on about Vegemite being the best thing on Earth. As I had no idea what it was back then, I consulted wiki. It said that vegemite was a yeast extract, from  leftover yeast after beer brewing. If I am to believe wiki, and I usually do, marmite and vegemite would be quite similar, albeit that Marmite has a far more intense flavour, so wiki says.

I cannot say anything about taste, as I haven't come across any Aussie cats yet...  ;D

Ah, OK. It was just that one Australian member quoted me the ingredients and they were different. No yeast at all.

And you have to remember that Wiki at one time carried a story about my death from alcoholic poisoning in a Tibetan Monastery.  ;D

I've always liked the word wiki.

Wikikikiwikik ;)

Plus if you try really hard you can get the word Wii out of it. ;D

Again these yeast extract products took hold of a topic and made it drift of course...   ;D

Oh well, the conversation mentioned in this topic was re-opened so I guess it's not too important to keep this one strictly on topic anymore.  :)

I'm writing this from my grave outside a Tibetan Monastery. Nothing is off-topic. Marmite may be toxic but always topical.
