100 RPM for FURIE not 120?
« on: July 25, 2008, 12:28:04 »

Furie has the standard 120 RPM, but isn't it meant to have 100 RPM and have the same speed......thats how i remember it, this is steam tug wattle, she is very similar to Furie except of the paint job see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_Tug_Wattle, it may be poor acceleration here peoples but if you want real life simulation you must deal with the patience, it will pay of one day, and i think VSTEP should make all the vessel back to their original acceleration rates, i know it kind of stinks, but if you want to have the most realistic ship sim game in the world you must make a few sacrifices.

I'm sorry, but you cannot just compare one steamtug to another.

120 RPM is actually correct.

Here's some specs, but it's in Dutch though... (The "120 omw/min" means 120 RPM)

Hello,
Like Fred wrote, you cannot compare Furie 99ft long, and Wattle 75, so the displacement of the latter is only 40 to 45% of Furie, and the maximum speed of Furie is 8 kts (being designed in 1912 as a tug), while Wattle speed would be 10 kts, indicating very different propulsive designs. Thereby, there is no standard 100 RPM.

Nonetheless, as up to now the only known data come from Furie's crew and shipyard, your data about the accelerations of this tug will be greatly welcomed, I am sure, as a point of comparison. Any data about displacement and ihp?
Regards,
Luc
