Where did you hear that? I know of no such plan.
I think you are referring to a topic on the boards here, soap boy.

http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/topic,8655.0.html

This is a members discussion and poll from Llamalord, who is planning to model one of the DC ships.
So not a VSTEP project as you can see.

Was that the source of this rumor perhaps?

Regards,
Fred

And besides, the New Game "Deadliest Catch Alaskan Storm" includes the Cornelia Marie, so, they are obviously not going to allow v-step to include it because they want money to me made on THEIR game. The ship i am looking forward to is the Elbe, because it looks great for towing, it looks good in general, and aperently it has a vast interior. So, it seems like its thums up for the Elbe, but only time will tell. I think the shipyard will do well, and it wouldn't suprise me if v-step put some boats in there that we weren't expecting or don't know about.

There is one problem about useing the name of a ship like the cornilia marie, if  you use it you have to buy rights to put it on one of your products that you will be making money off of.

Actually, I don't know if copyright laws extend to names of vessels. They are put into the public domain simply by reason of being on the sea and published by Lloyd Ships Registry.

However, getting that clearly established as a legal precedent might be long and costly for both sides.

I can understand a Cruise Line such as Carnival not being happy if there were pictures of their Cruise Liners coming to grief in SHip Simulator and being placed on Youtube. I could see them trying legal means to prevent that, even if they knew that they didn't have much chance of winning, they might do it to try to frighten off the source of those images. (I know I'd do that!)
