Again, it is probably a bug.

There is one bug, when all the windows and railings are not attached to the ship. They are hovering a few metres away.

I don't know if this is fixed though. Havn't looked.

Although there are some pieces of Titanic that are actually missing, the black patches instead of windows, deck machinery, and lifeboats are probably an attempt to reduce the massive poly count. As you get closer, the detail appears.

It may also be a function of your system's memory, processor speed, the type of graphics card and the codecs installed.

On my system, I don't seem to get any of these effects.

Terry,
The windows and handrails on the cabins aft of the bridge seem to be missing in the SS08 version of the 06 add-ons. If you are running without the add-ons, you might check that. The other black shadows do turn to objects when you are close enough. There are other items actually missing including railing stanchions and other verticals. Some effort has been made to reduce the polys.
I’ve been looking at Titanic on a 2.4 GHz core of an Athlon quad, 3 Gb RAM and an nvidia 8800GT driving a 1920 X 1200 panel. All display options are at max.
I don't thinnk I can blame it on the Vista. :)

Hmm...

Hi Marty. As you might expect, I have the full set installed here (SS06, Add-on, extra missions etc, 2008, V1.3 with 2006=>2008 convertor pack.

I'm running it on XP and haven't noticed that effect. I've just turned this PC into a Vista dual-boot (so I can upload my missions!), so I'll have a closer look. Maybe I just haven't noticed it, but it certainly isn't obvious on my PC.

Missing the polygons usually means that there is a coarse appearance as usual from far away, which doesn't improve as you get closer. I know they had to cut the numbers down, but perhaps there's more to it.

I know that some things are missing completely, but that's not the issue here.
