The CMA-CGM Marco Polo 16.000TEU will load containers on November the 7th at Ningbo for her maiden-call to North Europe.
This new-build ship will kick the Emma Maersk from her 1st place named as biggest containership in the world 15.550 TEU but Maersk will get the 1st place again in June 2013 with there first new vessel from 18.270TEU it will be the first ship from Mearsk from a total from 20 new ships.
the CMA CMG Marco Polo will sail under the British flag and is the first ship from the six new build giants, at this moment she is laying in South-Korea at the Daewoo shipbuilders that is the same wharf where Maersk is building there new ship giants.
the CMA CGM Marco Polo is 2M smaller then the Emma Maersk on the deck the can carry 21 containers high (The Emma Maersk can carry 22 containers high) but because the bridge and the funnel are seperated from each other they can stack the containers higher behind the bridge, the bow from the Maersk ship is smaller so they can load less containers at the bow but it is positive for the manouvrability (probably this word is wrong).
her first port of call will be Southampton that will be on December the 10th, then she will go to Hamburg and Bremerhaven on December the 16th she will arrive in Rotterdam and one day later in Zeebrugge.
