River simulator 2012
« on: August 20, 2012, 12:02:31 »

Has anyone tried this game? I think it seems a bit intersting but it is hard to say just from pictures and on You tube so do they accelerate the time in the game so it is not possible to see how the dynamics are(no simulator I have been up to have manage to simulate the dynamic of the simulated vessel if you set the speed up to over 10x times.) It is strange that in all the video's I found on that game on You tube so do they relatively quick when they start sail raise the speed mulitplicator.

So if anyone have tried this game, please tell how it is?

I have it too, and the ships indeed accelerate too fast.

The biggest issue in the game is the time of the day. There is no way to set the time of the day, and when it becomes dark you have to wait a few hours. Switching off the game and coming back later doesn't help, you really have to let the game run for a few hours  :)

When you let go the lines or open the hatches, the game just fades out and in and voila..

There is the influence of current and wind but not really accurate.

What I really enjoyed the most was the working locks  :)

Thank you alll for posting.

Thank you Ballast for posting this, cause this was the reason I started this thread. I was interested to get some information of someone who got the game. As I said in my first post so is it impossible to see on the You Tube video's cause the players in all videos accelrarte the time when it comes to where you see how the ship moves, and wakes or anything else will not be right if you speed it up. So it is interesting info that the ships accelerate too fast even in normal time mode.

When you let go the lines or open the hatches, the game just fades out and in and voila..

Sorry I do not understand this right, can you explain this fade out and in a bit more?

To be honost.. I wouldn´t pay 20 euro for it..  :P
So do you regret that you bought it?
(You may got it as a gift, if so, there is nothing to regret, hehe).
How much do you think it is worth?

Oil platorm Simulator 2011 & Harbour 2011 ?  :o
After looking at videos of the Oil platform simulator, so will I never install that game on my computer, not even if I got the game for free, cause it looks totaly unrealistic and like SSE so should the word 'simulator' never have been included in the title. I understand that such games can be funny as a relaxing thing after a hard day at work, but as simulator games are they worthless. This is of cource my very subjective opinion.

@Wiqvist,

I've made a movie of it.. explains it better then 1000 words  :P Once finished uploading it will be here;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbYJt7zbTmA&feature=youtu.be

I did not buy the game. The only reason why I was interested is that my brother is captain on the real pusher, the Veerhaven, that is playable in the game but unfortunately you have to unlock the other ships by hauling cargo. I just can't be bothered to do that..  :P I sailed 6 years on the river Rhine and I got my pilot exemption certificate for it but navigating and manoeuvering on a river like that is completely different then in the game.

Ballast, thank you for your answer and I look forward to the video. Hope you will make it without time accelerating, hehe.

So it is more buildt like an arcade game, that you have to solve some missions to get access to all ships?
I think missions in a simulator game is something for persons who are not 'totaly' in simulator game, players who still like to have a bit of an acrade game. In my opinion so is 'free roaming' and multiplayer the place where a simulator game show how good the game is as a simulator game. So thanks for the information.

Yep, you have to transport cargo to gain points. There is a list with loading and discharging ports where you can choose a trip. You can be teleported between ports if you prefer but the actual manoeuvering has to be done by the player.
