My regret on MS OCEANA
« on: March 07, 2012, 10:42:53 »

I wanted to express my regrets and my dissatisfaction with the MS Oceana

I think we should see some thing :

1. This horn, which has no horrible symbol! It is used for all boats (or so), it does not feature an ocean liner! I take the example with this video that shows the power and heat through unobstructed by that of NORWAY:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt0YK46RM-0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xt0YK46RM-0)

2.The noise of the machines in the wheelhouse, while machines are 300m away! I imagine passengers unhappy with the noise in their cabins!

3. The noise of people in the wheelhouse, the same since the very first Shipsimulator!

4. The lack of passengers on the cruise ship

5. Do to cross the steamer with other boats

6.Writing "-> OCEANA <-" at the cabin when the lights are turned the ship ...

Much of these gaps, can be reviewed! The small details make a lot! Otherwise I find this ship a lot, maybe a little too big ...

I agree with many points exept a few.

Lack of passengers: I'm sure no computer can handle a crowded deck in SSE.
Writing Oceana: It's probably an easter egg. the rest of the light effects are very satisfying.
Size: It's Oceana  ;)
Altough I must say with the absence of the foreward and middle staircase, the walktrough time to get from the bridge to the forecastle deck is tremendously long.

I agree that the engine sound is way too loud, and sometimes even abruptly interupted by silent parts on the ship.
It should be nothing more than a soft rumbling sound.

not sure what you mean with 5

France-Norway, do you mean that you sail in to other ships and nothing happens?

I have a question about the ship, which I do not have. I saw a video on Youtube with Oceana and there you hear the engine sound on the bridge and on the fore deck, but not behind, and on the aft deck there was no engine sounds at all. Is this right?

If you can not hear the engine on the aft part on the ship but on the bridge and outside around the bridge. Does that mean that the engine is installed under the bridge somewhere. Is this right?

Hope that some will answer this question.

wiqvist, you have a point there.

and about the horn; i agree that it should be louder and deeper (like queen mary 2)  ;)

Not to sound cliched, but what a long, strange, trip it's been.

Rbsanford, I have not made points here, I have asked questions about the sound of the engine.

I agree with you about the sound of the horn. I think that is a problem on nearly all ships, that the volume of them are too low. The horn have one very important function(of many), and that is to make other ships aware of them if it is foggy. Any person who have been at sea in fog, know how difficult it is to place a motor sound, and in which direction, so ships use the horn so it is easier for other ships to be aware of them. And if the horn can not be heard on the aftdeck of a ship(if the horn is placed in the front), how should then other ships be able to hear it? And on some ships you can nearly not hear the horns if you on the bridge, and if you can not hear the horn on the bridge of the ship who use them, how should then other ships hear the horn? So yes, a sound fix, to set the volume of the horns(and also right horn), would be great.

To answer you wiqvist, the sound of the engine is in the gateway, but not everywhere (Solicitating on the bridge wings). and on the beach front and the front upper deck and rear; If you want to say is that the sound is badly broken! And normally on a cruise ship, we hear not really engine noise (if not, thank you for confore passengers).

to return to the corn, I totally agree!

A few things i might want to add is the keyes id maybe like to see an update for sse where it adds an engine 3 and 4 not just for this ship but for the cutter aswell cause i cant use any of my joysticks with the oceana cause 2 of the engines dotn have their own key assignments.

maybe also a radar zoom keyes and chart switch
key aswell.
vstep plz make an update with more key assignments.

yer i know the oceana has the same perpulsion system as the queen mary 2 i just want maybe for vstep to make an update for sse to allow you to set the fixed pods to keyes just like the pods that rotate. would help alot with docking esspecially when your trying to make this game as realistic as possible (using maybe fsx saitek equipment) which i do use, but with the cutter i cant use the bow pod with any of the keyes cause it classes it as a engine and there is no key allication. :captain:

No need for an update, in the Options, Ship controls, the lines "Bowthruster 1 turn to port" to "Bowthruster 2 turn to starboard", once assigned, will control the fixed pods, albeit without a reset to stop possibility.

Indeed, these are the key commands you are looking for.
So they are not called Engine 3, Engine 4, but they produce the desired effect..

The same way you registered SS08? Go to your profile, and there should be a licence key registration box
