Conning window
« on: November 07, 2011, 09:36:38 »

Hi all.Newbie here.

Just loaded SSE from Steam - mostly OK.

However - instead of a circular green/red conning window(that i see in the manual) i have a black and white square window with a hull in the centre and some speed information.

Oh and another thing - sorry to be nuisance - with internal views the windows are just grey - no views of the sea. Related?

By the looks of it, I think your specs are a bit on the low side.
May we please see your DxDiag?

And also, you need to register your keycode into your profile to see this.

HI - thank you for rapid replies.

I have attached Dxdiag - it it like sending a sample to the hospital and waiting for diagnosis.

With regard to entering license code into profile - i thought i did that already - have i entered wrong code? It is the code 'Steam" gave me to start game.

Does this game require very high computer specs? - i dont know too much in that field - but i can run TS 2012 with on par frame rates.

Hello Littlepe,

Thanks for the Dxdiag. I observe that the processor, RAM and OS are quite suitable. However, the graphics card is not in conformity with the System Requirements. SSE requires the Geforce 8800 GT as a minimum and its current ranking is 114. Your Geforce G210 is ranked at 486 which is way below.

SSE is a very 'graphics intense' simulator and need a graphics card that can take the load. It could be for this reason that the conning compass looks different. If you are considering replacing your graphics card now, please also give great emphasis to the PSU (power supply unit). A low powered PSU will damage the card beyond repair. The specs of the card will also mention the wattage of the PSU it requires.

ok- thanks for that.

I live in Thailand so next time i am in town i will pop into the IT mall and see what sort of money they want for a better card - hopefully chirpy chirpy (cheap cheap).

The game does run ok so maybe i will live with the faults.

must dash - i am giving an impression of a snake as i steer a whopping liner to the North Sea

Hey - good news :D

I turned off the 'Windowed' mode - and the conning window has come on as normal and everything is much improved.

I remembered that i had the same problem in FSX  - in windowed mode everything went weird.

Just docked in S'hampton - great - especially as i sailed there quite a bit - brought back memories - all those dodgy shallows and nasty tides.

Well, that is good news. So, maybe you can save on buying a new graphics card for sometime.

That you are in Southampton, you should do one of the missions which involves in berthing the cruise liner there.  ;D
