« on: February 19, 2012, 15:51:38 »

I had SSE installed from simship.com and it was working fine. Went to get on one day when it was initialising it crashed. I tried removing and reinstalling and it is still doing it. I tried installing the update but didnt help. Does anyone know a fix?

I am having that same problem, Ive un-installed it countless times and updated it with all the current patches. I dont know what to do, kindof a turn off for me to purchase anymore Ship Sim stuff if this problem isnt fixed. It was one of my favorite games, but now I cant even play it...

I'm having this exact same problem. I try to start SSE, But during the init phase it chrash and I get a message that a error log file has been made. I have tried every single suggestion on the forum (twice) I have sent emails to support to get help with no reply. And I'm getting more and more frustrated that I have used money on a now for me totally broken game.  :(

I will try to start a support tread with all my log files and the cross my fingers and hope I can soon get the game running again.

EDIT:
I have posted the problem in the support forum. http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,28031.msg372394.html

i think i see your problem here. you have an i5 processor, which is not really ideal for gaming. also, but i'm not really sure, but your video card might not be up to code either.

It's definitly the graphic card. Or exactly you don't have a graphic card. It's just the intergrated GPU in your processor which does the graphic work.
And for SSE that's absolutely not enough to run SSE.
So if you want to run SSE, you should buy a graphic card and plug it in on your motherboard.

The processor is a bit lower clocked, but that shouldn't causing any problems.

Here is a picture of the HP 610-1150.  I don't see how you could add a decent seperate graphics card..
Although this is a very well reviewed computer, the drawback of such machines, as with laptops, is that you can't upgrade them, (with a better graphics card for example). You are sort of stuck with what you have..
Here is a quote from a review: "One disappointment though is the removal of a dedicated graphics processor and reliance on the Intel HD Graphics 2000 that comes on the CPU. While it is an improvement over past integrated graphics, it still lacks much 3D performance for anything beyond casual PC gaming at low resolutions and detail levels." (from About.com)
With a game so system-demanding as ShipSimExtremes, I'm surprised you were able to play it at all.. :)

The ViDock 3, ViDock 4, and ViDock 4 Plus

Here is one solution for most laptop owners that want a lot more 'grunt' in the graphics card department.  it is connected via the PCI expansion port that most modern full size laptops come fitted with.

I have since tried to download the Demo, exactly the same symptoms. Many Microsoft patches and a new graphics drive installed, still it will not run. I have had to re-install and go back to SS2008. I am not very amused!
If someone from Vstep would acknowledge the problem and say they were working on a fix, I would be a lot happier than I am currently. >:(
