The Forum Is a bit confusing!
« on: August 21, 2007, 15:46:35 »

I seem to have been to all the posts and most of them seem to have been taken over by moderators saying this has been already posted! well how the hell am i supposed to know it's already been posted and so what if there is a new post on a subject. Thats what forums are for, is there anything that you can say on this forum that won't be classed as ' You should have used the search function ' ....good luck everyone in trying to post a new topic....  ;D  ??? a bit confused to be honest  ???

Hi Adam,

Welcome to the forums. I'm afraid the mods are only doing their job. They are trying to keep down the amount of the same topics. They do not mean to cause confusion and close the topics to avoid just that. They are very right in suggesting to use the search function as many people seem to forget using this feature.

I'm afraid it's not the mods that are causing the problem, just people being lazy and not looking properly and posting the same questions over and over.

You can click my sig to get to the search function.

Or click here (http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php?action=search)

You can then search for what you looking for, if it isn't there then post it. If it is post your thoughts in that topic.

Welcome to the forums.

Perhaps this is one of the best reasons yet for not allowing duplicate posts... It's confusing.

Capt adam- enough said, yes?

I was also wondering about this problem. The game has only been out a few weeks, and the number of topics and questions is increasing rapidly. I suspect a fair number are double or no longer relevant. I think the moderators are doing the best they can, and perhaps it would help if people "cleaned up a bit". By that I mean that if they have posted a question or topic, and after a while it loses its relevance, they delete it. That would help in keeping the forum a bit less cluttered... :)

I always click on the "Show unread post since last visit" under profile name and that helps me a lot. Hope this helps some of you.

This forum was started for Ship Simulator 2006, before the 2008 version was released.  This is the new forum, there was another forum and most of the members from that forum are still very active :).  That's why there are so many topics/posts ;)

Regards.
