I want to ask you this:

What makes you support this ship so much? 1500 people perished under her name for christ sake!  :o
This ship is just one of the many thousands of ships which sank, what does this ship make so special? Is it that you have watched the film that many times that it has become an obsession?

If that is it, don't smear it all out over the forum, please.

And I also think this has been said to you a lot of times:

Quote
Keep everything about this in ONE topic

Why Titanic ?

-Biggest Ship Ever
-Most Beautiful ship Ever (even today)
-Her Sisters
-The People That Built Her
-The Construction
-The Sinking
-The Wreck
-And Today

Every Single Bit Of The Ship i like the old Ships Like RMS Oceanic and RMS Lusitania but Titanic is my Obsession

She is My Hobby and my Interest

I think he's getting at your obsession is getting the better of you. Here's the story: A ship went too fast through an ice field and hit some ice. It sank. The ship sank. Many people died.

Here's my bugbear with people like you.

"oohh poor tita...zzzz....nic sank."   You seldom mention the poor people who died that night. Nor the families in both Britain and America (and Ireland probably) that lost family members and were therefore destitute after, relying on charity.

You are ignorant of any of the history of the period- the general class system that resulted in no thought being given to the 3rd class "working class"- ring any bells, numbnut? They knew damned fine the lifeboats wouldn't accomodate 3rd class. That ship is one symptom of the period, not it's flaming cause.

But you don't see that because it wasn't in the film. That film has a lot to answer for with people of your age.

Incidentally, the word you are looking for is "sweEt" not sweat.

Sweat is the excretion of liquid due to expansion (generally by heat) of the liquid being expelled.

Perhaps you'd do better to read a dictionary rather than another book on that ship.

Of course I don't hate you. I reserve hatred for very specific people- it is quite a powerful word and shouldn't be bandied about too much.

My point it that everyone is waffling on about that ship (often making quite fantastic claims that are fantastic for the WRONG reason) but no one is coming up with anything new; no new news, no new discussion points.

As someone put recently, the obsession with that ship is solely brought on by that damned film (which is MUCH less plausible than either Night to remember or SOS Titanic).

My real gripe though is that people forget the real tragedy. It wasn't the loss of the ship that mattered, but all the people (as VS rightly points out). All I am asking is that you look beyond the night of the sinking and TRY to understand some of the background to it. The commercial problems of the time, the social implications etc.

If you truly feel this strongly about that ship, why not learn a little about the people who travelled on it. Or do people not count.

I heard before similar comments about the Herald of Free Enterprise- "poor ship". The passengers- the reason for its existence- were all but forgotten. Alas the yoof of today.
