New Pc - How well will SSE run?
« on: May 01, 2011, 10:26:49 »

Ok, so firstly, i didn't really know where to post this so any forum mods feel free to move it :)

My main question is i've just bought a new pc and its currently in the mail, what i want to know, is how well will this new pc work with SSE because my current, though meeting the system requirements, can't run it very well.

Here are the specs for my new Pc:

Processor: 6 core 3.2ghz
Ram:        8GB DDR3
Graphics:  Nvidia Geforce GTS 450
Hard drive:500GB
OS:         Windows 7 home premium

I know SSE has had problems with even high end computers and i want to know how this one will check out, thanks for your time :)

Hard to say before installation..... but the latest version (Build 1066 Ver 1.3.5) should give between 20 ~ 25.

Do you already have SSE ? I hope it's a DVD direct from www.shipsim.com  . This one normally does not have any problems. The Steam version has been posing problems.

BTW your PC is well above the System Requirements of SSE.

i loaded 2 freeroam missions, 1 in the atlantic and 1 in new york using the orient star (probably one of the most heavy models)

both scenerys give me around 20FPS with the HUD opened, and around 30FPS with the HUD closed (new york varies a bit between a bit above 30 and a bit below, depending where you look at)

i use a resolution of 1680X1050 pixels with anti alias on and all setting to the max, also AI ships are enabled.

in case you wonder, my exact specifications:

CPU: Intel I7 2.8GHZ (8 cores)
RAM: 8GB DDR3
GPU: AMD Radeon HD5700 1024MB
HDD: 1.5TB

as you can see there's not much diffrence, i have 8 cores in my CPU but my speed is 400MHZ lower then yours.
so eventualy you might have a better FPS then me, but i'm not sure about the exact diffrence between our GPU's
