Update 1.3 : the new camera system
« on: January 10, 2011, 20:05:28 »

Hi,

I'll try to describe the new camera features, since 1.3 update.

The third camera (walkthrough, key 3) has not changed.

The second camera (helmsmann) now offers different points of views, on biggest ships. You juste have to press the 2 key several times to cycle those points of view. For example, on the Vermaas, there are three position : center bridge view (like before), port wing, starport wing. (hint : try the different points of view aboard the Agile Solution to discover a new place on this ship ;))

Here are the different PoV of the helmsman camera aboard the Vermaas :

The first camera (orbit camera) is movable with the classic rotations (right click and moving the mouse left, right, up and down). You can pan the camera left, right, front, back with the home, end, del and page down keys.

The main new feature is the cinematic camera. This one is only available through the in game interface (no keyboard shortcut). Click on the camera icon (bottom right corner of your screen), then on the lowest camera button (showing a 16mm camera).
Click on the icon, then choose the position of the camera. Left click to validate the position. Then you have to move your mouse forward or backward to set the camera height. When the camera axis is green, it's okay, when it's red, you're not allowed to choose this position. Once the camera is created, you still can rotate and zoom it with your mouse, but if you switch to another view, you'll have to recreate the cinematic camera. This new camera allows you very nice (and new) points of view, examples !

Addition (thanks to appleair) :

For possible addition to your thread regarding camera controls, I would like to add that in the orbit view, by holding down your scroll button and moving your mouse, you can move the central view-point laterally.
