Ship Simulator Extremes DRM question
« on: December 18, 2010, 19:57:08 »

I've read other people saying that if you buy Ship Simulator Extremes directly from shipsim.com that it doesn't use Steam.  That's good, but what type of DRM does it have?

I don't mind having to insert the DVD when I play but does it require any type of online activation?

Thanks

Hi Spitman,

I would strongly suggest one should opt for the DVD version of SSE directly from shipsim.com. Yes, it may be $12 more expensive than the download version from Steam but you will be at peace when compared to those who have it through Steam as they are facing various kinds of problems. I have the DVD version and I admit I did have some initial, but minor, installation problems. The solutions provided in the Forum was very helpful and it runs perfectly on my machine. No, you do not have to insert the DVD when playing, as also explained by TJK. Besides the extra $12, please be prepared for additional shipping charges. I had to pay $13, so all in all my DVD worked out to $65.

Thanks, I just placed my order for the DVD version on shipsim.com.  Not sure where its coming from, I live in USA and customs can really slow things down getting here.

Good move there, Spitman. I had ordered mine in early September and it took just a week to be delivered to India. I hope you get yours by Xmas   Then again the festive seasons slows down the mail system too I guess. Merry Xmas, anyway  :D :D :D :D
