More Ferries?
« on: September 05, 2010, 18:31:32 »

Hello i would really like to see more ferrys in Ship Simulator Extremes because you only have the pride of rotterdam and i would like somthing that looks a bit different. Maybe a ferry were it opens at the front and back so you dont have to keep spining the boat around everytime you arive at Dover or Calais. Maybe somthing that you might have easy access to like the static ferry that was in SS 2008 at the port of rotterdam and other places. Maybe somthing from the french side like Brittany Ferries or another P&O.

Please conside it. Thank you. :)

Still hoping for the Pride of Dover...
Edit: Also a SR.N4

and if i was really wishing, the Normandie of Brittany ferries - could still work on D-C too

Well they did when we got Dover-Calais
And they have with the planned improvement to Freedom 90, and the inclusion of buoys...  ;)

Greetings,
Vstep is listening, very good infact. However some members dont realy understand it.Making new models is very timeconsuming, and this mean the making of the modell itself is than the easyest of all.Strating to create the dynamics is alot more difficult, specialy when there is no data available.
The Ferry Man has right,we asked for the Calais-Dover traject, and we have it.We asked for the bouy's & beacons, well they are coming.
So that some members still dare to say, that Vstep is not listening to our idea's,well i dont understand.

The point is that Buoys and beacons/ charted depths etc should have been in at the time of release. VStep was obviously not listening/ thinking of their customers when they thought it was a good idea to omit them from the original release and have only subsequently under duress decided to put them back in. To my mind the SSE release has gone exactly the same way as Silent Hunter "let's dumb down the realism and make the campaign more excitirig to enlarge the game's audience" an approach that never works in the field of simulation as Microprose found out with Gunship!, Ubi found out with SH5, Akella found out with PT-Boats. Some companies unfortunately need to learn the hard way, at least VStep is now I think realising their mistake.

I've seen multiple posts asking for better buoys & beacons wind & current effects where are those in the original release? These are core things anything calling itself a ship simulator should have. Fellow Dutch company Stentec seem to manage all of these things in their Sail Simulator so why can't VStep manage it in SSE which has a much larger audience?

I'd worry more about VStep "daring" to release a blatantly half finished product to the marketplace if I were you.
