Steam question
« on: February 28, 2012, 05:25:26 »

Before I started to take part of this forum so had I never heard of Steam. And most what I heard about this product and Steam is not the most positive things. With other words, there have been a lot of problems.

If I should follow how Steam works out of reading posts here so will I never buy a product from Steam(and no more from Vstep either). But if all games had this problem with Steam, Steam would not have survived so very long time.

So my question is:
Do other game's also have this issues with Steam(publishing dates and update problems and games which not work and all other problem brought up at this forum)?

Or, can I buy other Steam games without worries?

Thats a very good question and you could start a Poll with it.

I have Railworks 3 and Battlefield 2 from Steam and have had no problems at all.

Hi
I see no need for a poll I have used Steam for years with no problems
and most users will have the same result.
So to me a poll would prove nothing really it would be just another poll.

I use Steam for Railworks and so far I've had no issues. I guess I like being able to control everything about my game, especially when it works.

But, it works well.

Most of my games are from Steam, and I have never got any trouble with it.

Thank you for your answers.

Than it is strange that so many persons here who got the Steam version of SSE complain about it and have a lot of errors. And Vstep have all the time said it is Steam who had made misstakes. If it is so, so is it strange that it is only with Vsteps SSE they got problem with. It more seems like the problems comes from Vstep, in other case so would also other games have problems with Steam.

I find it very strange that wiqvist has not noticed this post from Swenson, considering how he has been so scathing in his criticism of Vstep:-
http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,27881.msg371701.html#msg371701

This shows that the big recent problem was down to people NOT keeping their computers updated with Microsoft updates and not, in fact, due to any problem with software from Vstep or for that matter Steam. The developers spent a great deal of time yesterday specially to find what was the cause of this problem. Yes, the developers who, according to some vociferous members, do nothing to help anyone. >:( I have been told that I do not know what I am talking about, and I have even suggested to one member that an apology to Vstep might be in order, but of course that too fell on stony ground. I notice that quite a few members have posted messages of thanks to the developers, for which I am really pleased.  :2thumbs: :-*

Regards,
Angus.

Traddles, now I had a little longer perspective than just the last problem with Steam. If you look from the begining of the release of SSE so have there as you know been a lot more than just the last problem. It is easy to just think of the last thing which happen and forget the past, but if you do so, you have not learn anything from the past(this last was not directed to you Traddles).

And Traddles, I still wait for your answer in the CCC-thread where I have asked you to explain what you ment with that some bugs only exist in my opinion. Or was this something you just said to me cause you was angry on me, if it is not so, you may can give me some examples so I know what you mean?
