My code is printed right there on the back page of the manual. But every time I input it it says it's an invalid code !
The tech support pages on Steam are no help. I gulped my dinner down and drove 20 miles to get this.
I am on W7. I viewed the setup file on the dvd in Explorer and told it to run as an administrator, that doesn't solve it either. Railworks worked just fine with steam. Why can't I get past the activation code screen. There can be no doubt I am working with the correct code. It's printed on the back page and the number of characetrs all match in the relevant input boxes. This has been a gross waste of my afternoon.

It seems there has been a problem with this game and steam. However steam are working on it as fast as they can and if you use railworks you know how fast steam move. So your not the only one having this problem.

I've also got my boxed version today, and having the exact same problem...
This is 'EXTREME'ly frustrating. How come some people are already having some nice cruise, while people like us who also paid propertly gets a big halt. I really hate steam system.

If any of the staffs are reading this, please do something about it.

If it is still the steam problem then there is little anyone can do until tonight for those in europe and aisa due to the fact steam is on the western side of the USA and they are not at work yet.

I have tryed sending e-mails to ship sim and had nothing back from them, this is terrable carry, they should have a main topic on here keeping us upto date on whats going on.

Same thing. Mailed shipsim support, steam support and paradox interactive support. No answer. Purchased boxed version prior to release and tried to installed one day in advance. It this the reason to the trouble? Also at one point Steam told me that the application was already owned by this account and is available in the Games Library - which it is not.

Any ideas?

Okay, so i've been having the problem of the activation key not working, but i just tried activating the game from steam by clicking 'activate a product on steam' instead of running the disc, it then said 'you have activated ship simulator extremes!' however despite me having the boxed disc version, it then started what i can only think to be actually downloading the game from steam, saying: game ready to play in 42mins. i have only just registered with steam upon buying SSE and so have not entered any details regarding method of payment so it cannot have thought i had purchased a download version.

Is this meant to happen and if so why do you need to download the game when it's on the disc, and if not why is it doing this and should i cancel the download?

When you succeed in activating the game on Steam it then automatically downloads the V1.1 update which is quite large.

this was 3gb, i'm sure v1.1 isn't that large

With both the game and patch combined, it doesn't even amount to 2GB. That is quite odd.

i'm slightly worried now, but my game works! and it does say on the box it require 3.5gb hard disk space

Very true, but I imagine the game is compressed to save time on downloading. Perhaps the download version was not compressed then

i don't even need the disk in to play the game, it's as if all the disc did was activate the download :s
