Steady Horizon

Is it not unrealistic to have the player's eyes locked to the horizon with the ship moving around them?

Would it not be better if the view point is locked to the ship, and so you move with the ship?

Is there an option to alter this?

Will it be fixed in the upcoming Extreme title?

Hi philbrown, welcome to the forum..
I see your point, it does feel a bit strange with the view like that, no idea if it will be changed..
However, if you go in "walkabout" mode, you can get that view you want. Unfortunately you can then only control the ship with the mouse..

Hi philbrown,
Have you ever been at sea in rough weather? Surprisingly enough the effect you describe is exactly what happens in reality. You sway from side to side bending first one knee and then the other, the ship itself sways round you but, if you are keeping  a proper lookout, your eyes are fixed on the horizon. If the ship is pitching badly the effect is similar but your body sways backwards and forwards in tune with the motion of the ship, again trying to keep the horizon level so that you can pick up distant lights or landmarks.  Combining the two motions, i.e. pitching and rolling, your body corkscrews around but still tries to keep vertical and enable a clear steady vision of the horizon. It can be quite fun in really bad conditions.
Regards,
Angus.
