« on: May 17, 2010, 19:10:07 »

Hello.

I'm interested about Ship Editor wich have been mentioned in the latest news.
What kind of editor wil that be, if enyone have an idea?
How will it look like, what would be possible to edit in it, it will be easy or hard...

Thank you on any information.

Kind Regards.

Ship Editor - sounds more like editing the existing ships in it (Pimp my Ship), than building a new ones like many people think.

Extremes will likely include a Ship Editor that allows placement of various attachment points, container, towing, mooring, people, etc. on a ship.

^ More like that tool that Terry uses for the packs.

Yea, i thought it's going to be something like this, building new ships would be much more complicated, and then every player would making tones of ships.

Maybe there will be some models ( designes ) of each ship, and you colud chose the tipe, the colores, add some objects etc...
That would be great too.

Kind regards.

There is a possibility that the author of that review may have actually been referring to the Mission Editor.
Placing a ship editor, such as included in PRO or used by the SuperPack team, into the hands of all players has the potential to cause chaos in missions, fastest times, MP, etc.
Its use would probably be restricted, as it is in SS08.

In any case, a ship editor does not let you create ships or to significantly alter their appearance.

I also believe this is the misinterpretation in the interview that Frank gave a while ago, that was mentioned before aswell.

Frank had talked about the Mission Editor, not the Ship Editor, that last one is indeed a feature in Nautis, not the game version. And the one that wrote the bit got it mixed up, unfortunatly.

Hope that clears it up.

Fred

Nah, you can only make towing/mooring/anchor/barge/passenger/whatever else connections, lighting, Flaglines and place instruments (as far as I can gather)

Quite right, it's an editor rather than a builder, and some of it has been shown already, in that video that shows off some of the processes involved in getting a ship into the game.

The video is included on the Collector’s Edition DVD. It is, optionally, installed on your computer along with the game and should appear on your Start menu. You can also play it from the DVD.

We're talking about it's Connections Editor.

I think Terry uses this to make the superpacks.
