Being a bit of a trekkie in the past, I must admit I liked the look of the iPad. But when it comes down to it, when would it ever have a place in my own life? My house has three desktops, two laptops, I have a Google G1 phone for on the move. We can even go online on the Wii or either of the two DSi's  if we are desperate enough.

When at home, I sit in a nice comfy chair and browse the web on a 24" screen on a quad core PC connected by 20 meg fibre optic broadband, using any one of four different browsers that ALL support Flashplayer.

Will this new iPad use a scaled up version of the iPhones OS?.. if so, I doubt it'll have Flashplayer.

It's too big to fit in a pocket, it's too expensive to just get one for the sake of it.  I reckon it'd just lay on the table getting used maybe once a day to check the news.

I watched a Youtube video about this thing and the general consensus is that it is a bit of a joke and that there there is no market for it.

Even playing Devil's advocate here, I wonder how many Apple fans who already own an iPhone and an Apple laptop would buy this? Especially if it has the same limited surfing functionality as all current smart phones.

I have no doubt they will shift a lot of units, but can't help wondering who would buy one and why.

???

Well Said^ I agree, it serves no purpose for everyday use especially being that it is not easy for travel, I'm traveling soon I'm taking my ipod but if I had an ipad I wouldnt take it...its not feasable to use while traveling, quite ridiculous in my opinion

its worthless ::)  Just an oversized ipod touch :D overpriced too, and apple doesn't use flash because they say its under developed or some bullcrap like that ::) I'll stick with my ipod touch, does the same thing but in a much smaller and easily portable package ;D

And it allways is a grey haired/half bold man (probably in his midlife crisis) presenting a new product.  ;D

If it is apple or microsoft, allways the same.  :P

I have a Ipod touch, and I loved it in the beginning. But now I think it is worthless.
The time that I spent more then €150 to mp3's or GSM's is over.

I just bought a GSM for €15 and it does everything I need it for.
(for 1/10th of the price)

I just like it more to spend my money on party's and having fun in life  ;D

And a tiny devise doesn't give you a lot of fun.
It only isolates you from the rest of the world with those earplugs. From wich you can mostly hear three different kinds of music on the bus trough eachother. (And then you wonder why a lot of people hear so bad)

I'm just going to wait for Microsoft Surface to be released...

Pretty nifty for a computerised coffee table...

And the people who made Pocket God are looking at optimising the app for iPad...

It's bad enough not having a microphone...
