Forum, Website and Multiplayer maintenance
« on: November 27, 2009, 14:00:00 »

Dear Users,

In the night of Monday 30th November and Tuesday 1st of December we will upgrade our main Ship Simulator database server with new hardware and software. This upgrade will commence at 0:00 CET and will take approximately 7 hours.

During this downtime the ShipSim.com website, forum and MP servers will not be available.
For security reasons the payment system on ShipSim.com will be taken offline earlier, at monday 17:00 and will be enabled again after we have checked and verified the entire payment process.

Best regards,
ShipSimulator development team.

To all,

Due to some unexpected problems after last nights server upgrade we are migrating the forum to another server.
For now the only change is that we have disabled the upload of new attachments.

We expect to put the forum into maintenance mode this afternoon for a few hours. This will allow us to get all the latest data and migrate it to our new server. We will try to get the forum back online as soon as possible.

Hi All,

Most of you will have noticed that the forum was much less stable after last night's maintenance.

During the server maintenance we have encountered quite a number of errors, which could not be fixed easily. Therefore we have decided to move the forum to our new webservers and no longer on the ShipSim.com servers.

This is also the reason why you will now see the 'strange' url in your browser's address bar. The URL will be changed back to http://forum.shipsim.com, but unfortunately these changes take up to 48 hours to process.

If any of you notice errors or strange behaviour on the forum, then please let us know.

Cheers,
The Ship Simulator Web Development team.

After a few hours of loading problems and some downtime, the forum i now back and faster then before.

Sorry about these unexpected problems, but apparantly we made a small error whereby first the images and styles on the forum were not loaded and then the entire forum went down. This error has been corrected.

We will keep monitoring the forum for possible errors.

Hi All,

Our apologies for today's unannounced downtime.

We needed this time to find a solution for the not-working attachments and avatars.
I am pleased to announce that all attachments and avatars have been restored. However some attachments that were uploaded last Monday might have been lost in the process.

We have also enabled the MP system again. We have had to close this to due to all the maintenance work we had to do on our databases.

We will continue to monitor the forum in the upcoming week to find out is everything is working as it should.

Just a small note, at this time it is not possible to upload any missions directly from the mission editor.
There is still a small bug there that we need to fix.
