2008 Advice sought
« on: October 23, 2009, 13:29:52 »

Hi all

I ahve just ordered Ship Sim 2008, having used 2006 since 06, but I would like some advice as to what kind of Joystick I should get to use with O*.

I haven't used one with 06, but feel I ought to start.  I think it MUST be quicker and easier to use than the keyboard.

Many thanks

Hi Rummie,
 I use a Microsoft Sidewinder 2 stick with good satisfaction.These sticks are one of the best in my opinion but have been out of production for some time.However they frequently come up on E-Bay fetching around £30-£50.I also use a pair of CH Products foot pedals which give a usefull extra control, very handy for things like the foreward nozzles on the Hovercraft.
 You will enjoy sailing much more when not restricted to the keyboard and adding the huge improvements in 2008 over 2006 will have you glued to your computer!
 Regards Neil.

I use a Logitech Wingman;

For conventional vessels i use one thumbstick for the telegraph and the other for the rudder. The slidder on top comes in handy for the bowthruster.

For the Bugsier 2 and the Red Eagle i use the slidder on top as telegraph. Each Voith Schneider or Azimuth unit has his own thumbstick.
