Member Introduction Topic
« on: June 21, 2009, 11:53:15 »

Hi Ship Sim fans,

I think it would be a great idea to have a member introduction topic since we do not have introduction forums. I think a single topic would be ok, as not EVERY single member will of course post.

Here's my introduction:-

Name: Adam Spencer
Location: United Kingdom
Age: 19 (20 on 3rd July)
Occupation: Website Design & Hosting

A bit about myself

Well what can I say, I live in a place called Norfolk (pronounced Norfuk to us locals  ) and I work in the boating industry with our family run business. I also run my own company which is in the website design and hosting sector.

I love driving boats around the yard and I help to get them ready to be taken out and I also carry a few repairs sometimes too. We are very lucky to have access to the Norfolk Broads (which is a collection of rivers and small lakes or "broads"). I love playing ship simulator and especially online when we arrange online matchups over at MPSS. I love towing people and being a fair harbour master in places such as Marseille and Hamburg.

I look forward to seeing you all online at some point!!

So that's all there is too it really. If we all follow suit, we could end up having a rather interesting topic. I know this is familiar to that of the VSTEP intro topic, but that was I believe research purposes, as this topic is for member benefits.

So, when you first join the forums, please take a moment to introduce yourself in this topic, and you will sure to find a very warm welcome. Perhaps also if a member of higher authority (such as Terrorising Terry or Sadsid) could sticky this topic perhaps?

Ohh and I almost forgot, you do NOT have to post your age or occupation if you feel you would rather not - but if you don't mind, then share it with us :)

Enjoy Ship Simulator!

I think that this is a pretty good idea, I was just thinking of something like this the other day.

I'm afraid that you all know me after three years though...

Glad you like the idea, and I hope others feel the same.

You can still introduce yourself though for the newer members. All the current members know you but not the new ones! :)

I think I'd prefer that people use the "approved" thread for this:

Thanks.

Terry,

Without appearing to be rude, why do you want members to use that particular topic? It is for research purposes really and not to allow members to introduce themselves to OTHER members.

Surely a topic for the newer members would be better, rather than a daunting survey topic?

Just a thought :)

My name is Jammy, I'm not telling you my real name as I hate it. I'm a huge ship enthusiast and discovered Ship Simulator 2008 on YouTube after watching some simulation videos of the Titanic sinking. At the time though I picked Virtual Sailor as the trial was more friendly to my computer, I finally got this game last Christmas and have loved it ever since.
My dream career is to be a ship officer for Cunard, although chances are I'll probably end up on P&O Cruises or Princess Cruises as Cunard has the smallest fleet of ships in the Carnival Uk section.

Name: Shane
Location: Vermont, United States.
Age: (I don't feel comfortable with that)
Occupation: Graphics Design.

A bit about myself
I enjoy to make 3D Models of ships, and watching them grow in detail as I add things to them. I enjoy to write my website in HTML, and I also enjoy to program things in JavaScript. I also enjoy to do graphics design and fix photo errors. I also enjoy studying the brain, and human social patterns. I love ships, they are my most favorite type of thing in this world. I found out about ship simulator looking for Titanic videos, but that was almost a year ago. Also, I enjoy learning about Russian, European, and American history.

Basically, because that topic is about people introducing themselves. This one seems to me to be a duplication of that thread. As Vstep put that thread up for members to introduce themselves, I wouldn't want this thread to detract from their intention.

But, so long as your topic doesn't duplicate any apsects of the other thread, I'll reserve judgement. Please monitor it and make sure it doesn't drift too far. Thanks.

Name: James A. Winston Davidson

Age: 18 years old

Location: Town of Gravenhurst, District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada

Occupation : model ship builder

A bit about myself:

I am a fan of the Titanic and the other ocean liners as well as steamships.  I have lived in my hometown of Gravenhurst for many years.  I enjoy boating and being on the lake.  My dream job is to work onboard a ship in the Great Lakes and to make my way from deckhand to captain.  I discovered Ship Simulator 2006 a few years ago while I was surfing the web and came across an ad on a website (can't remember the name of the site).

I currently build model ships as a hobby; my favorite of all the RMS Canada (where my username for the Forum comes from).  I am currently working on a cruise ship called MS Ontario.
